So... which kids TV show drives you the most insane?!

scaryhairycat · 16/12/2009 14:08

For me it's numberjacks. I hate it with a passion, and always scramble for the remote whilst desperately trying to distract LO (so she wont notice I've changed the channel, or "shangychanol" as she puts it) before it's tragically lame intro music starts...

And while I'm on the subject, why oh why are the characters in kids TV shows so alarmingly freakish?! Why do those odd things in Waybaloo have hardly any nose? And massive heads?? Why can't they just look normal and cute?! And why does dirt girl have an actors eyes, an animated head and a person in a costume for a body?!!

Am I alone in my "going-slightly-insane-spending-all-day-on-my-own-with-a-toddler" madness here?!

Horrid Henry - we've banned it

whatevermaycome · 17/12/2009 10:15

UD - Step inside and Chris was Mr Mopple - have to agree about the house being slightly sinister.....

Miggsie · 17/12/2009 10:26

Oh God yes, Step Inside...the house face used to freak DD out!!!

Waybuloo is terrible, they have NO NOSES and their necks are so thin the weight of their heads should snap them...and WHY does the monkey wear pants?

However Shaun the Sheep is excellent and worth the entire licence fee. I cried laughing when Shaun shook the chicken over the boiling water and an egg dropped out, which he then cooked!

gorionine · 17/12/2009 10:30

OOglies! I just don't get it but the Dcs ar in fit of laughter every time!

ReindeerInaSkoda · 17/12/2009 10:33

Miggsie that reminds me of when the doctor delivered Pingu's baby brother - by tapping the top of his egg with giant spoon. I'm not sure why but I found this hilarious. I often find Pingu hilarious though

gatheringstones · 17/12/2009 10:34

i'm seriously considering complaining to the bbc about waybaloo (it's come to this! argh) as dd1 has started talking like them 'put hand pocket' 'give milk' it's driving me INSANE.

and big cock little cock. they cook 'food' which no-one eats and big cock acts like he's worried the food will attack him he's so tentative with it.
also, there's that youtube vid which cuts together every time little cook gets something white and sticky squirted in his face. i think of that every time i see them now. yuk.

ginnny · 17/12/2009 10:34

ICarly - smug little brats and where the heck are their parents?
Horrid Henry - horrible little boy!
Garfield - nasty fat miserable cat.
Angelina Ballerina (thankfully I don't have to watch this any more but it was like fingernails down a blackboard!)

Miggsie · 17/12/2009 10:35

I used to work LONG shifts and all the team sat down and watched Pingu with a cup of tea, and I loved the midwife opening her bag and bringing out a giant spoon!

I add that I worked in TV so there were a lot of TV's about and watching TV at work was "normal".

ginnny · 17/12/2009 10:35

I LOVE Ooglies. It cracks me up.
And Pingu and Yoho Ahoy were my absolute favourites

gatheringstones · 17/12/2009 10:37

Pingu is brill. i watched it for hours on a flight once (with dcs). it's quite subversive isn't it?

MummyTumble · 17/12/2009 12:25

Timmy Time! Can't stand it, Big & Small, And Carrie & David - dreadful stuff!

My kids have just never been into Postman Pat, Fireman Sam etc.....

I think stuff like this is pointless too...kids seem to like something with a great laugh, something where they are 'talked at' or where they can learn something...

How about everyones favourites? Off to start a thread .......

MrsJohnDeere · 17/12/2009 12:57

Waybuloo - the background music makes me want to kill someone. It could be used - very effectively - as a form of torture.

I Can Cook is a close second.

MunchMummy · 17/12/2009 13:05

Space Pirates; Clifford; Popshop; Razzledazzle.

Favs at the moe are Timmy, Gigglebiz, Fun Song Factory and controversially Nuzzle and Scratch.

Itsjustafleshwound · 17/12/2009 13:11

Diego and Dora should be taken out and shot along with the bloody backyardigans ...

Shaun the Sheep is inspired ...

Paolosgirl · 17/12/2009 13:25

I Can Cook and The Green Balloon Club are instantly turned off in this house. Sanctimonious and twee nonsense of the teeth-grinding sort.

Servalan · 17/12/2009 15:09

Carrie and David's effing popshop is top of my list. Especially the Is it This or Is It That song where it asks all the 3 year olds if they want to listen to some "cool R'n'B". Can't our children have a few years before they have to think about being "cool" FFS? And for the love of God Carrie, please change your t-shirt once in a while.

Can't abide Me Too. Granny Murray freaks the hell out of me with her unnatural cheeriness.

Lazy Town makes me want to rip my own ears off. That blardy music. One of DD's little friends had a birthday party recently where the music from Lazy Town was playing in the background, and it wasn't pleasant! And WTF is all that about "sports candy".

Dirt Girl World - wrong, wrong, wrong on sooo many levels, from the pornographic sounding title to the creepy animation.

Space Pirates. Tedious.

Green Balloon Club is also hideous in its general smug, stage-school crap-ery

Servalan · 17/12/2009 15:11

Oh, and don't even get me started on Wayballoo. Why can't they talk properly! (Although admit I find them always saying "hi hi" very amusing cos it reminds me of Brian from Ideal)

FolornHope · 17/12/2009 15:12

fuckingfuckingfuckingfucking

zac and cody

MIFLAW · 17/12/2009 15:16

Waybuloo.

Absolute disgrace.

Paolosgirl · 17/12/2009 17:12

Oh yes - Carrie and David, and their dubious lyric of "check me", for 3 year olds to sing. I think not, Caz and Dave.

hohoholepew · 17/12/2009 17:17

Hannah fucking Montana

Zack And Cody

iCarly

I like The Wizards of Waverly Place though

shakerattleandrollover · 17/12/2009 17:19

don't tell my ds but... FIREMAN SAM!!!
The children's voices drive me INSANE!

potplant · 17/12/2009 17:24

You will long for CBeebies when they get old enough to watch all that American cartoon shite. Pokemon, Ben 10, Dinasaur King etc etc etc. wtf is Pokemon about?

I really really hate Gerald McBoing Boing.

Monadami · 17/12/2009 18:48

I hate:

Green Balloon Club (All the Characters, concept is good)
Dirty Girl (too weird and annoying)
Waybuloo (Lo Loves it, i can't stand the wooden cheebies)
Night Garden (Lo loves that too, I'd like to step on the Pontipines and stone Macka Fuc*a with one of his rocks)
Chuggington (boring)

I like:

Big & Small
Big Cook Little Cook (Some recipes are ridiculous)
Big Barn Farm
Mamma Mirabelle
Postman Pat
Tweenies
Mister Maker

Don't Mind:

Nuzzle & Scratch
Show Me Show Me (Can't stand Penelope)
I can Cook (Find Katy annoying though)
Guess with Jess
Zigby
Lazy Town Extra (I really fancy Sporticus)
Bob The Builder
Me Too (Can't stand Granny Murray and weirdo Raymond)
Louie (Lo doesn't like it)
Get Squiggling

RockinSockBunnies · 17/12/2009 19:25

Cannot stand Basil Brush - why oh why did they decide to reintroduce that bloody fox to television? I remember not being impressed watching it when I was a kid.

Also LOATHE Chucklevision - can't they insist on retiring those two?

However, I love Shaun the Sheep and there was that really cool nature programme on CBBC recently (showing snakes, scorpions and other poisonous creatures) - I made DD watch it so I could lurk in background finding out about deadly reptiles !
