I'm loving Monica and Michel, so much more refined, knowledgeable and watchable. Trouble is they just make Greg look even more crass. Monica's facial expressions are just brilliant. Make her the new regular judge I say!

vote for Marianne to win.
I am glad baby David got through tonight. But am terrified of Iceman Ryan

BettyTurnip · 08/10/2009 23:50

Michel Roux looks like he's on death's door.

Am at Gregg being an arse. DH gone to bed but can't wait to tell him in the mornning (and he thinks all this time on MN is a waste). We are addicted to Masterchef.

BrigitBigKnickers · 08/10/2009 23:56

Looks like he needs a good hearty portion of fish and chips!- none of this poncy, modern two mouthfuls and its gone rubbish!

MaryAmericanSmooth · 09/10/2009 10:02

Marianne for me !

Pinkjenny · 09/10/2009 10:06

As I said on the other thread, I heart Michel. Couldn't believe he was only 49 though!

Ryan does have a rather sinister look to him.

midnightexpress · 09/10/2009 10:06

Greg also seems to mention 'the flavours' every time he opens his mouth.

Agree Ryan v scary. You can imagine him bearing down on you with a meat cleaver. But he also seems the most twatty cheffy of them all. I liked the girl though.

BettyTurnip · 09/10/2009 10:12

I think Ryan's quite attractive actually but he does look like he's wearing a load of rock chick eye make up.

Jux · 13/10/2009 20:33

I think I'm the only one watching this!

I thought the Snotted Fish looked delectable. Well done, whoever thought of that.

Also, a question: if Le Roux person only has 2 Michelin Stars, why does he expect perfection? He clearly doesn't produce it himself.

ApplesinmyPocket · 13/10/2009 21:28

Awwww poor little David, I wanted him to go through over supercilious Ryan - though I guess Ryan is better prepared to compete in the next round.

VulpusinaWilfsuit · 13/10/2009 22:14

Oh my god, it is SO wrong to be saying this (given he is 13 or whatever and I'm old enough to be his mother) but Ryan is loooooooovely.

So he's an iceman? I love that dedication and focus in a man. Not sinister. More like a somewhat scared small boy.

Fantastic chef too. Ryan (or Ludo) to win.

cremolafoam · 14/10/2009 07:50

aww baby Davids out.
did i hear it right that Ryan worked at The Square be4?

spenthen · 14/10/2009 09:48

The more I see of "fine dining" the more sick I feel. I watched a prog about forensic science a couple of weeks back where they had a saying, something like "every contact leaves a trace" - that's to say, if someone's touched something, they've left a few cells, or a bit of flaky skin, or DNA or something behind. And these hot sweaty-handy cheffy types just cannot keep their mitts out of the food. That restaurant on Monday where they had to time the food by stroking and squeezing it - lordy it made me feel ill.

Fine dining - a plate full of someone else's sweat.

"Yummy", as Greg might incisively say.

MaryAmericanSmooth · 14/10/2009 11:09

spenthen - I always think that - particularly the chef doing the pigeons by touch on Monday -the amount of fiddling about and placing and then wiping down with horrid old j cloth - yack

thedollshouse · 14/10/2009 11:20

Ryan is so full of himself. I was quite pleased that it was a close call last night. Up until last night he had this look on his face that suggested that he thought he would walk the title. David gave him a good run for his money.

Bettymum · 14/10/2009 12:16

I wanted little David to get through too. Scary Ryan with his scary pout and scary eye-make-up eyes. Bet he only went through because it was his birthday .
Can't wait to see more of Ludovic, I heart him. I heart Marianne too, I'd love her to win and then Ludo to get his own TV series.

MarshaBrady · 14/10/2009 12:20

Yes all that touching and handling and tasting of the food at the restaurants, bleurgh.

Marianne and Ludovic are the best so far.

Pyrocanthus · 14/10/2009 12:36

spenthen - absolutely - never see a programme about posh cooking without feeling slightly repulsed by the hands and the cloths. And the woman handling the duck then wiped her nose on the back of her hand.

Also - those arty smears of puree - can't help thinking that they're going to be mighty cold before they reach the customer.

I am, but a peasant, but peasant food is very nice (hot, plonked on to the plate with a spoon, lots of veggies).

Bettymum · 14/10/2009 12:49

Pyrocanthus - yes, lots of face/nose touching and then food touching in that episode. And they never showed any footage of them washing their hands

annoyingdevil · 14/10/2009 12:51

I love Michel (such a gentlemen) and Monica too. Bring them on the other shows, I say.

Greg looks exactly like my ex (can't get past that) Both shouty men can be quite amusing, perhaps they could re-employ them to do the washing up

I hate those 'foams' - look like something my cat brings up from time to time.

Pyrocanthus · 14/10/2009 12:55

It's the amount of handling after it's cooked that's bothering us, sprogger. I appreciate that it's hard to peel a spud without picking it up.

MarshaBrady · 14/10/2009 12:57

Nah I'll just cook it myself, thankfully a great cook. No ready meals here boak

It's not that funny to not want food overly handled by sweaty nose rubbers.

(bad mood damn my cleaners- no show)

MaryAmericanSmooth · 14/10/2009 14:54

don't get me started on the foams - it's just spit

Katisha · 14/10/2009 15:41

I am not keen on "faine daining" - apart from anything else there is basically not enough to eat.
So far I like the look of Mary-anne's stuff - assuming all that salad was for one person...

Greg really doesn't need to be there does he...
