Can't believe the travesty of last night! Should have been Rachel and Daniel in the bottom two. Who voted for them????!!

I guess I can't really complain though as I didn't vote.

I think the final 3 should be Alexandra, Diana and JLS. Disappointed Diana didn't sing and I did notice her screaming with a toffee apple on Xtra Factor. I guess to be fair, the laryngitis could have come on after that??

Whoever mentioned Holly's voice on Xtra Factor - I agree. It was all over the place!
Does anyone know how many weeks pg she is as there doesn't seem to be a bump yet.

I think next week is best of british. Let's hope the nation realises that Daniel is not best of british and votes him off!

I don't think Daniels gone on that much about his wife either in the live shows, apart from when he sang that song for her and why shouldn't he? And the difference between him and Rachel is that his wife died, and it must be devostating to have to look at your daughter knowing that her mother died as a result of complications while carrying her.

Whereas Rachel on the other hand has had not one, but three children taken away from her and not returned, all due to a lifestyle which she chose. How must those children feel when she's up there spouting about how her children (that'll be the two she's been allowed to keep) mean everything to her?

I also think it's a really bad idea to encourage someone with a history of drug abuce into an industry where drugs are rife and even encouraged. I'll bet that if she wins she'll be in rehab within a year.

They made a big deal of Diana not being able to sing and "this has never happened before on X factor" etc but a few years ago on Pop Idol, which let's face it is the same show, when Rick Waller got a throat infection and he couldn't sing, they booted him out and brought back the mighty Darius in his place to the live shows so WTF???

Wannabe I'm sure you're right re the finalists chosen from the start etc.

peachsmuggler - you're right. I think he sang the first week, they allowed him to be off the following week but when he still couldn't sing in week 3, they got Darius in. I bet Diana will be back next week...

I thought it was a travesty. Laura is very talented and how Daniel stayed in I can't imagine. Rachel was flat in many places last night and should have gone.

So why, when we all knwo how frank the judges can be when they feel like it, did NOT ONE of them comment on how flat Rachel sang. I'm a musician and it actually hurt.

There seems to be a fundamental problem with the whole thing IMO. The first thing you have to ask is 'are the judges impartial?

Erm. No.

So of course the further you get in the competition, the more tactical voting there's going to be by the judges.

I can't help wondering whether the voting numbers are down too - voting someone good off might make more people vote to get rid of the, let's face it, hopeless Daniel and Rachel and Eoghan.

That said, though I think Laura is the better singer, I did think that Ruth's sing-off was better than hers - she really gave it some welly.

Rachel has no personality imo and the songs she picks and danni pick are shite, she is arrogant and self centred

for things to be a touch different this year I would like to see JLS win...I think they would get the best out of the recording contract

If they're trying to manipulate the results for the final to be between who they've decided in advance, then they need to get rid of some of the more talented ones (who they don't want, ultimately, to win) early on. Otherwise there's a danger they'll be in the final. If they leave the likes of Rachel and Daniel in, with no chance of winning, then the votes will go to the real top-enders on the final night.
Happened with How do you solve a problem like Maria, but back-fired on Oliver, when the 'wrong' person won. AL-W and Cameron Mackintosh were furious.

The men obviously voted off Laura cos Ruth had bigger boobs and sex appeal. But that's so sexist, its a singing competition not a beauty pageant. I can't believe Sheryl isn't making a fuss.

My opinion (FWIW)

2 odd things about the judges last night - the reaction to Rachel, she was terrible why do they keep on giving her yet another chance? She's had plenty now! Not one commented on her singing, didn't say it was good or crap.

Second, I usually understand Simon's logic to voting off but there wasn't any, nor Louis either. Simon didn't give any explanation why he voted Laura off, which isn't like him at all.

I totally agree that Cheryl has not done Laura any favours changing her from the auditions and she hasn't moved on during the live shows. Improvers always do well, Daniel has definitely improved the last 2 weeks. Also Cheryl needs to toughen up when she loses a contestant, only one can win, as Louis always says.

Finally, Louis is the best one to make the last judgement he has much less trouble doing it than the others and understands the whole process so doesn't agonise over the decision.

It should be irrelevant who's the last judge to vote. They should have already made their decision as to who they want to send home. The fact that the others said theirs' first shouldn't sway it.

i thought Simon was overly critical of laura tbh, all the banging on about her look last week when she sang really well, and this week didn't seem justified.

As for already picking a winner- i thought that too- but the thing is, i'd have put money on it being Austin, or Laura in the final as Simon really championed them from the beginning.

What i've always wondered is how much the whole 'mentor' thing is just for the show, as when the winner is announced, aren't they then on Simon's record label? Does he then manage them, even if they are not his group? I wonder because whilst Si and Louis do at least have the experience, i wonder how much Cheryl really knows about managing an act.

and Louis has less trouble making the final decision, because since week 2 he's only had one act left- so he's just happy to pick off the competition!

I think the judges should cast their votes in isolation so they have no idea how the others have voted.

Maybe the public fel sorry for Dannie. She is getting a complete slating in the press for being pontless on the show now Cheryl is on there. Heat reported this week that her contract is likely to be renewed after this season on the X factor.
Maybe the public are voting for her acts as a kick in the face to Simon and Cheryl who seem to be leaving her out
