I couldn't bear it to begin with and now am a bit obsessed with it. It's the Henry effect.

Me! I love it despite criticising it all the time for it's inaccuracies (sp?)!

LittlePushka · 03/10/2008 19:47

Yes... me! I cannot waith for that flippin woman to get the chop!

GobbledigookisThrifty · 03/10/2008 19:49

Me! I have had a stressful and full on few days so tonight I'm looking forward to a take-away, a box of maltesers (god I love my dh) and The Tudors (plus other stuff I've got on Sky+ = Heroes, Desperate Housewives, The Restaurant.....)

LaVie · 03/10/2008 20:06

Me! Although sad that it's the last one [grumpy]

LaVie · 03/10/2008 20:08

Are they going to show all his wives in the next series because the rest are a bit boring imo. Although Joss Stone as Anne of Cleves might be worth a chuckle!

cornsilk · 03/10/2008 20:26

I've already opened the wine in anticipation. Am at maltesers. Hope Anne's death isn't as gory as last week's executions though. Still feel a bit queasy just thinking about it.

Is there another series?

LaVie · 03/10/2008 21:03

apparently they started filming series 3 in June to be shown next year. yippee!!

LittlePushka · 03/10/2008 21:32

Great! I must say though, I was a little sad that they did not big up the Catherine of Aragon character more inkeeping with her true role and importance in Henry's life...especially as they are doing another series and the other wives are a bit wet in comparison.

LaVie · 03/10/2008 21:52

aaah so now he's going to turn into the fat porker we know and love

cornsilk · 03/10/2008 21:58

That was so sad!

That episode was all round weird.

What was Henry thinking about and doing to those swans?

Bertolli · 03/10/2008 22:03

Yeah, what were the swans about?

SparkyFartDust · 03/10/2008 22:03

clearly a nutter.

SparkyFartDust · 03/10/2008 22:05

well swan pie perhaps representative of innocence lost/ at mercy of Divine Right.

or else he just likes swan pie.

still a nutter.

cornsilk · 03/10/2008 22:07

I think the swan was a red herring - swans mate for life (not like Henry) and he couldn't see the beauty in that, he just wanted to satisfy his needs - in the same way that he executed Anne so that he could have Jane.

The woman who played Anne was fantastic. Much better than whats her face from star wars.

DumbledoresGirl · 03/10/2008 22:09

But was the swan he was eating at the end one of the two swans he kept looking at before? I thought they reminded him of him and Anne and at the end he was eating Anne.

And the fountain of youth bit? Just barmey.

SparkyFartDust · 03/10/2008 22:14

cornsilk your interpretation actually has some credibility, unlike mine.

I love the actress who played Anne.

cornsilk · 03/10/2008 22:28

I also thought they reminded him of Anne (in the hope that he'd show clemency -even though we know he doesn't) and himself but now think we were 'made' to think that and at the end it was clear that he was only thinking of his own satisfaction.

cornsilk · 03/10/2008 22:29

also I think the swan was like Anne - something beautiful sacrificed for his greed.

DumbledoresGirl · 03/10/2008 22:32

Oh yes that's very good cornsilk. I bet you took English A level didn't you?

cornsilk · 03/10/2008 22:33

yes and degree!

cornsilk · 03/10/2008 22:34

where's expat to tell us what really happened to poor Anne? I want to know whether the swordsman really did that thing where he got her to look the other way.

OP posts:
DumbledoresGirl · 03/10/2008 22:38

LOL I knew it!

I also took A level English and did ok in it but all that searching for hidden symbolism did bore me rather.
