I really don't want to sound as though I'm picking on you, imananny, as you have backtracked very graciously, but you did start off by saying "I have always said if you can walk and talk and ask for it,then you are too old", which would imply that you think 18 months is too old, never mind 3 years?

(Personally, agree entirely that if mother wants to stop bf 3yo then she should, think SN should butt out of pontificating about how it's of no nutritional value (huh? Would she stop parent giving child cow's milk because it's "of no nutritional value?" Is there something unusually deficient in this woman's milk that means all the nutrients have been magicked out of it?), and am concerned that someone who clearly thinks that extended bfing is a bunch of indulgent weirdy hippy crap that's all about control and has no other benefits to begin with may not have the most sensitive approach to weaning from the breast when the mother wants to)

oh my god just re wond sky plus to see her slap that kid
That was shocking

mumhadenough · 24/09/2008 20:50

I had to sky plus to see it too, but what I saw was a mum at the end of her tether who snapped!

DanJARMouse · 24/09/2008 20:51

i am most disturbed by the language these children are using.

I would be asking SS to take my kids away if I had raised them to talk to me like that.

LilRedWG · 24/09/2008 20:51

OMG!

those kids are a direct result of their parents
The language and violence are exactly the way the parents act.
Parents need supernanny more
Hope they are helped those 3 kids deserve better

aloevera · 24/09/2008 20:54

That was awful how she hit him. :-( poor lad. I think the parents need some help with their own issues. I hope they get it for the sake of the whole family :-(

LilRedWG · 24/09/2008 20:54

Poor kids. I really feel for them, but I also feel for the parents too. The whole family need help.

peachsmuggler · 24/09/2008 20:54

God, hope she is able to help them, they're in a bit of a mess eh?

this is heartbreaking.

so sad

SpookyMadMummy · 24/09/2008 20:55

Alot of pettiness and childish behaviour from the parents too.

kiddiz · 24/09/2008 20:55

SN didn't say bf had no nutritional value she said it had no nutritional value that couldn't be found in a balanced diet. I don't know if she's right but I don't think it's fair to misquote her.

LilRedWG · 24/09/2008 20:55

This is the first time I've seen Supernanny - is it always this heartbreaking?

mumhadenough · 24/09/2008 20:55

But its also possible that the parents are the way they are through the stress of dealing with their kids. No?

imananny · 24/09/2008 20:56

as i said that is my opinion that they are too old when they come up and ask for it, but no one has to agree on it - i wouldnt make a mum stop UNLESS she wanted to

yes SN shouldnt have said what she did, but in the end, the mum wants to stop

i feel sorry for those children, they learn from their parents and
thats where they learn and hear the language they are coming out with

swiftyknickers · 24/09/2008 20:57

utterly heart breaking-i've just been up to give my DS a kiss

peachsmuggler · 24/09/2008 20:59

Jeez. Don't think I can cope with more next week!!!!

imananny · 24/09/2008 20:59

hopefully with both the mum and dad being able to spend time together that life as a family will improve

kids need love to nurture

SN cracked the sleeping and the car issues, as well as getting 3yr off demand BF, so guess she did the job that she went in to do, and was asked to do
