;dont shit in your own back yard'

what do you mean by that?

3andnomore · 31/08/2008 22:31

sleepy, I think there are.....

slayerette · 31/08/2008 22:32

Am I the only one who felt that that didn't come close to dealing with the reality and severity of this crime? Indeed suggesting that it's easy to 'get away with'? - your wife will support you, you'll be on bail for ages and then not get charged and you won't lose your kids.

Stupid programme.

Heathcliffscathy · 31/08/2008 22:33

i don't think it was a stupid programme.

I think it was an accurate portrayal of a story that pans out many many times irl.

3andnomore · 31/08/2008 22:33

yes, I was left with this...justice being served would have been better....

slayerette · 31/08/2008 22:33

Law and Order SVU do a better job than this, ffs. So much for 'British Drama' [poncey 'we're the BBC and we do quality not like those Americans' emoticon]

stikj still wondering at your comment.......

slayerette · 31/08/2008 22:36

Admittedly I don't have first-hand experience of many many cases (do you, sophable?) but the one case I do know of first-hand, the man was charged, lost his job (in the teaching profession) had to go for obligatory counselling and has been placed on the sex offenders register. That's more what I was hoping to see reflected.

stickyj · 31/08/2008 22:38

OK maybe it's a colloqiual term, it means you don't mess around with your own family. You don't bring trouble back to your own front door, and what I meant was, how did she know 100 per cent that he wasn't messing with his "girls". That they weren't saying anything because of misguided loyalty and they loved their Daddy?Would you leave your kids there and would you really not say anything to anyone else that you knew was leaving their kids there to "play over"?

What do you mean a horrble metaphor?!

wanttobeanon · 31/08/2008 22:41

Couldn't watch this. It happened to me. Destroyed my life and my family. My now ex-husband got a new home, new name, new job and new friends.
I got whispers from neighbours, friends and family. Had a nervous breakdown, now suffer from bouts of severe depression. Have moved away from all friends and family. Had to live with intrusion from press, social workers, police liason and basically wanted to die.

vitomum · 31/08/2008 22:41

i just couldn't relate to her reactions at all either. she was really wimpy i thought

NotAnOtter · 31/08/2008 22:41

stickyj · 31/08/2008 22:45

I cannot imagine how I would have the capacity/strength to do it but you obviously did and maybe came out as th victimn? I hope you hve peace now because you deserve it.
