I'm a big fan of 70's and 80's t.v series and would appreciate some ideas on what to watch next.

They don't have to be set in those decades, just made then.

One I've been considering purchasing is Upstairs Downstairs, is that worth a watch?

Recent series I've loved are All Creatures Great and Small,Dick Turpin,Nanny,Me and My Girl, Some Mother's Do 'Ave em and Fawlty Towers.

I'd love suggestions of just about anything from dramas to comedies.

Lubyloo · 15/08/2008 22:04

Used to love Nanny. How about To the Manor Born, Sorry, Brushstrokes, Rising Damp, Howard's Way.

Poldark definitely, fab series. If you like wartime stuff then Danger UXB and Family at War are excellent. I'm a huge fan of 70's/80's stuff. My all time favourite is Shine on Harvey Moon. All great series anyway

ilovemydog · 15/08/2008 22:13

'Get Smart' is being released as a movie!

or was this just an American series?

turquoise · 15/08/2008 22:23

Penmarric
The Mallens
Duchess of Duke Street
Lilly (Lily? About Lily Langtry anyway - Francesca Annis was in it).
The New Avengers
Citizen Smith

Finbar - I loved both of those, but specially Survivors, I still think of it quite often, especially the bit about the mother trying to get to her son.

turquoise · 15/08/2008 22:24

Poldark

The Edge of Darkness

I was also going to add House Of Cards but I think that is edging into the 90s.
