was watching 6th sense on itv2 (so it serves me right I suppose on two counts) and it was for Orangina, of all things .

It was possibly the most grotesque, macabre, genuinely frightening set of images and ideas I've ever seen in a advert.

anyone know what I'm on about?

Eh?? is that shown before or after the watershed?

MrsFluffleHasAWuffle · 11/08/2008 09:57

Oh dear.....

It's like Showgirls but with animals.

Wrong, very wrong.

Vulgar · 11/08/2008 10:06

It's weird.

i remember there was a rumour that if you drank Orangina with a straw it would make you have a mini acid trip.

it was the ravers drink of choice round our way for a while.

CatIsSleepy · 11/08/2008 10:10

what an utterly utterly bizzare advert

seeing animals prancing about in bikinis does not make me want to drink orangina
strangely enough

frankly it's just wrong

"Already a huge success in France following its launch late last year, the 60 second advert has become an online phenomenon viewed over 3 million times across all websites.

The advert was conceived around the concept of "Pulpeuse" which in French has a double meaning: 'containing pulp' and also 'sexy' or 'voluptuous'. Using this play on words French based agency FFL Paris who created the advert have succeeded in combining the juiciness and sexiness of the Orangina brand.

Head of Marketing, Adrian Troy said: "The advert has enjoyed a phenomenal response in France where Orangina is famous for its iconic advertising and we're delighted to be able to bring this fantastic advert over for the UK audience to see. Through the music and incredible animation, it really celebrates the 'joie de vivre' (or 'joy of living') feeling which Orangina encapsulates. We're certain it will be a truly memorable experience which will get everyone talking about and enjoying Orangina."

The 60-second advert, centres around a love story between an alluring doe and masculine bear before erupting into a dance music spectacular featuring a whole host of unusual characters from the animal kingdom. The ad certainly taps into the seductive nature of the Mediterranean which is also reflected in the curves of the brands iconic bulby bottle. The commercial which was directed by Psyop, a group of US directors, took four months to produce between agencies in London and Paris. It combines spectacular motion capture and computer generated images with traditional cinematographic techniques resulting in one of the most visually impressive adverts ever created."

Sorry if it's already been mentioned but on youtube vid time 1;00 [bear goin through line of zebras] it looks like bear has a penis?? I still paused and still looks like a winkle to me great ad though I think it could be scary for kids.
What do you think MNs? is it a winkle or not???

solo · 11/08/2008 15:24

Sexed up yes, scary? nooo, I quite liked it.

solo · 11/08/2008 15:28

No, not a willy, that's the bears pants! and he keeps 'em on too!

HuwEdwards · 11/08/2008 15:29

Very ^Continentaaaal' dahling.

cheesesarnie · 11/08/2008 15:30

that is very scary 'not right' advert.i'll never drink oringina again if thats what happens

LackaDAISYcal · 11/08/2008 15:37

If that had had people instead of animals, it would be banished until after the watershed. I wouldn't want my DCs watching it at all tbh. In fact, is it shown during family viewing times?

why does sex need to be used to sell, of all things, an orange drink. In fact why does it need to be used to sell anything at all?

solo · 11/08/2008 15:37

I'm sorry, but just how is this ad scary? I really can't see it.

captainmummy · 11/08/2008 18:47

When I got married (1991) I collected orangina bottles for months cos they are just the right size to put on the reception tables with a small posy of flowers in.

Naive, me.

(still got some of them)

Sputnik · 13/08/2008 10:54

That had me PMSL.
Oops, perhaps wrong metaphor there.

Maybe the exploding orangina breasts were a little tasteless, but other than that you should all lighten up a bit.

[wonders if has furry tendencies]

lyrasilver · 14/08/2008 19:32

It was hilarious... all that on just a bottle of orangina! I am stocking up now.

meglet · 14/08/2008 19:34

It scared me too . truly weird. What are those ad-men on?!

southeastastra · 14/08/2008 19:35

would say more surreal than scary - though i always think it's for babycham

SorenLorensen · 19/08/2008 14:35

I thought I saw a bear [sic] willy too (after the sliding through the zebra legs bit). Not scary - just vaguely salacious and off-putting. Orangina's yucky anyway.

CouldYouWouldYouWithaGoat · 19/08/2008 14:37

it is unpleasant but then i find mama mirrabelle walking round on 2 legs unsettling. i share your anthropomorphic issues

LongLiveCuckoo · 19/08/2008 14:41

It would prevent me from buying Orangina for children. Slick ad, if it were for an adult's drink. But it's still almost ludicrously sexual.

DarrellRivers · 19/08/2008 14:46

I hadn't seen this until the other night, and suddenly this thread made sense
It was wierd, vaguely disturbing, not at all sexy and made me shiver in a bad way
I quite like orangina, but agree after all the exploding bottles it really made me look at the fizzy stuff in a different way.
Made us talk about though, so it is a good advert in that respect

KiwiKat · 19/08/2008 14:48

It's foul and gives me the willies. If you want to see a really funny ad (or at least I think so) check this out.

NorkyButNice · 19/08/2008 14:49

The whole point of advertising is to get people talking about a product - if we all send around the link, or go and tell our mates about the advert, when people go to the shops and see it on the shelves it'll make at least some people pick it up and buy it when they wouldn't have before.

Personally I think it's really funny and well done!

WilyWombat · 19/08/2008 14:59

Hmm well I was expecting to tell you to get out more but is is a little disturbing to see fluffy animals behaving like that...even more disturbing to think thats how some human beings behave on the weekend

I saw it as perhaps a little tongue in cheek though i.e. the waterfall and cascading juice reminded me of the herbal essences adverts with the woman orgasmically washing her hair. Sitting on the bottles...the cher video for If I could turn back time on the ship where she sat on the missile launcher (or whatever you call it...you know the big gun thingy)and the Janet Jackson/Justin Timberlake wardrobe malfunction.

Or is that just me, should I get out more
