Wow, we got through the last thread pretty quickly! (Again!)

So Betsy is still recovering from her stroke, Debbie's condition (dementia) is getting worse.

Tim and Sally still have Tim's cousin Ross's daughter Lucy in their care as Ross killed his wife - Lucy's mother, and is in prison... Or so we have been lead to believe. There's a question mark over whether Ross did kill Lucy's mum at the moment, (or if it was Lucy!) after Lucy spoke to her dad the other night and said 'what if they found out what I did!' Sally is struggling with Lucy, especially after she threw her phone at Sally and hit her in the face.

Sarah is still in prison, (for killing Theo,) and hasn't had her trial yet. She has finished with Kit, who went on to sleep with her daughter Bethany!

Bernie's aunt (Celeste) who was trying to get Todd to do a funeral for her, died a few weeks ago, but not before dropping the bombshell that she has breast cancer, and Bernie may have the gene. So may Gemma and the quads, and Kit, and Brody...

Kit was tested. He has breast cancer. He is devastated - (naturally.)

Carl has just got a job in the cab office.

I mentioned this in the last thread, but I can't remember if Todd did ever do Celeste's funeral by the way... She's been dead nearly 4 weeks now. I don't think they've mentioned her funeral for about 3 weeks. And I definitely don't remember them doing it.......

It was way back in the 1970's when my mum was diagnosed, and before she had me, so I'm out of touch with that side of it. I just remember her refusing medication when I was a child and the terrifying ordeals we had when she lost her grip on reality.

I agree that the diagnosis part of the storyline was badly done. The relapse is (ime) realistic though. Serious mh conditions aren't fixed immediately and usually need a lot of medication adjustments and changes.

It is a shame that they are going down the route of Sam becoming a bit of thug after being diagnosed with schizophrenia.

It can affect the way they perceive everything. I have a very vivid and distressing memory of my mum chasing me around the house with a pair of scissors trying to cut off my long hair. I was only about 7 or 8. It turned out she was convinced my long hair represented something bad (I was too young to understand). My dad tried to explain about the voices in her head and that they made her believe things that weren't true.
I think the storyline is portrayed well though.

I agree. It just feeds into the perception that schizophrenia = dangerous.

I think it was mistake to give Sam another big story line, they want to put him in everything, he featured in Will's abuse story more than Will did.

I see where they're going with it, it must have been tough for you dealing with that xx

Dunno, we're in a time of not stigmatising mental health conditions - itv specifically are always banging on about therapy and how it's okay to not be okay

There are too many issues to handle everything properly. Sam, Lucy, Jodie and her dad, Debbie, Betsy and Dylan, poor Sarah, Bethany forgetting her stoma, Carla and Tracy forgetting the transplants, Kit and the family genetics....and now Eva is in the hospital bed. Im sure I have forgotten some things.

Betsy Lamb is a long way from the bad girl who first appeared in the show, she was bunking off school to get drunk, blackmailing people, knocking off counterfeit goods.

She had a new personality inserted when her hair went dark. Surely she should have been cured from her stroke by now. It must be a couple of months. That should be enough.

I don’t think we ever have. Graham in Emmerdale got beaten up for letting her escape but I read in DS that even Olivia herself doesn’t really know Jodie’s backstory
