I must admit I've not watched from the beginning but it's giving Archie's Castle from Balamory!

Yes. I have so many questions.

bigboykitty · 23/09/2026 21:54

I've just turned over and 😮

AnneElliotfanclub · 23/09/2026 21:55

A strange house for strange people.

EmmaStone · 23/09/2026 21:56

Ok, what’s the blue boiler suit, red accents and a fake banana in his pocket reference??

SwedishEdith · 23/09/2026 21:57

I was just musing that they looked like tellytubbies and how could she find him sexually attractive 😄

smurfmonkey · 23/09/2026 22:01

They were... unconventional... but I liked the house. The colour and curves just made me smile!

Northernexiled · 23/09/2026 22:03

We felt it would great, on a beach, in Miami….😝

Boolabus · 23/09/2026 22:06

I missed the beginning were the other couple their friends? I've no idea why they would want to be part of this project. They didn't seem to have much interest in it at the end. The houses are very unique, bonkers and fun, I'd love to see them but not live in them or live next door to them.

BeetyAxe · 23/09/2026 22:11

It wss the most insane arrangement I’ve ever seen on grand designs. Didn’t like the house at all. Did like the house they knocked down. Not my taste at all and that couple were a little bit crazily optimistic.

WyrdHag · 23/09/2026 22:11

I thought they seemed like a sweet couple at the end but the house was bonkers.

Will have to watch the whole thing at some point.

I'd love to know what their neighbours think!

So surprised they were allowed to knock the original house down!

3smallpups · 23/09/2026 23:10

Can’t understand how those polystyrene arches can last more than five minutes

purpleme12 · 24/09/2026 16:29

Bump

Carriemac · 24/09/2026 16:30

Bonkers . So out of place and the house they knocked down was charming .

Rosecoffeecup · 24/09/2026 17:54

Whole thing was bizarre, I felt sorry for the other couple not having their interiors finished

Why were they wearing matching boiler suits?

tomf1956 · 24/09/2026 19:21

Two episodes in to this series and both have been terrible. Needs to get back to basics and show builds that we can relate to. Andy Pandy and Looby Loo

Cookingdoesntgettougher · 24/09/2026 19:37

I felt really sorry for the other couple who had the money together, but ended up with an unfurnished house because it took so much longer, then they had the baby. On the other hand it was a weird way to self build and they could see how “unusual” the other couple were at the start.

Very convenient that the £70k family loan was available, not surprised that a bank wouldn’t do a further mortgage.

Exactly
if you met that architect you have only yourself to blame if you then hand him 1.8 million !

EspressoWarrior · 24/09/2026 19:44

They both gave me the heebie jeebies. If I saw them down my local, they would be given a wide berth. It’s not the looking different (I’m married to a big, hairy biker), it’s the performative “Look at us, we’re so wacky and zaney!” nonsense that makes my spidey senses tingle. I hope he apologised to builder #1 for his ridiculous behaviour but I do wonder if they even paid him properly.

C8H10N4O2 · 24/09/2026 21:03

I love art deco and even love that style but there is a reason those colours/styles are used in hot, sunny countries and not the grey northern climes. The colours never look as good in northern light and end up looking pale and tired within a few years.

All I could think watching those polystyrene arches was "today we are going through the arched window".

I wonder if they have a gazillion pound castle or lighthouse in this series?

allmycats · 24/09/2026 22:33

I thought that they were a pair of entitled twats playing loose with someone else’s money. If I had been his builder I would probably now be in prison for murder. !!

SinisterBumFacedCat · 24/09/2026 22:38

Of course they met on Guardian Soulmates 😁

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 24/09/2026 22:48

I watched it tonight and I quite liked the inside but the house looked weird in the middle of the normal looking ones. And so expensive as well!

Theyreeatingthedogs · 24/09/2026 23:01

It looks awful and he came across as an incompetent architect.
We will go and have a look when we are next in London.

IdentifyingAsAWoollyMammoth · 24/09/2026 23:04

Didn't like the house at all EXCEPT for the circular and arched windows. All modern builds are just big standard squares and rectangles. And usually white uPVC, occasionally dark brown/wood effect, or black.

Let's have more arched windows and more colour choice of uPVC frames.
