I managed to close off the last thread without realising and couldn’t see a new one, so here you go!

Shame Arthur had a tough draw! I blame Ruud. If he had withdrawn before play started on Sunday, Arthur would have slotted in there as the 33rd seed.

The zverev / Sonego match is still going.
I was score watching this a couple of hours back . Sascha has the break and serving for the match though now.

The Sascha /Lorenzo match was crazy- could absoultely have gone Lorenzo's way. -I think Sonego was unlucky to draw Sascha in the first round, he would probably have got through against a number of others.

Second round matches start today - and NuRafa (and a couple of others)still hasn't played his first. He's had an opponent change to contend with, and now an extensive delay. At least it should be on at a time I can watch (if everythingdoesn't get rained on again- it's scheduled 3rd).

Carlos is playing Jaime Faria- who had a really good run from qualifiers at Cincy. He has had some decent results through the year. He's unlikely to trouble Carlos- but stranger things have happened .

Daniil has been sent a bucket of chewing gum- and a baseball cap .

I am with Jonathan re-baseball. It's really boring. Dh used to play softball/was an umpire. Many hours of my life wasted trying to figure what was going on. It's overly complicated rounders.

I’m always surprised when non-Americans express an interest in baseball. It just seems very inaccessible to the casual fan, a bit like cricket.

The funny thing is, there are actually a number of leagues across the UK for baseball and softball- and oddly, a couple of the local schools also play it. Before I met dh, (who is half American) it really wasn't something I really thought anyone played here at all.

I'm glad Jonathan is not in charge- a musical act before each night session? No thanks. .

He had a big pile of chewed pieces on the side 🤢 hopefully he cleaned up after himself.

One of my American relatives said baseball is declining in popularity in the states.

The way this is going, Bu could win it very quickly in straight sets. Rafa is really struggling with conditions , his racquets and playing against Bu, basically

I don't see Rafa coming back from this.

Rafa's game has gone walkabout today, but all credit to Bu.

I remember being really impressed with Bu in Beijing a couple of years ago. Not sure if he’s been injured or if he’s just streaky.

I think Robbie was saying he's been injured- and his ranking ropped. He seems to play a lot of challengers (and has done quite well this year in those).

The rain delay could help Rafa re-group a bit. But it's a huge mountain to get back from 2 set, 1-4 down.

More rain! Some players haven’t even finished their first round matches that got rained off yesterday.

If they didn’t have this stupid day/night session thing they could move at least one match on to the covered courts.
