I managed to close off the last thread without realising and couldn’t see a new one, so here you go!

Isn't Zverev a wife beater?

Raahh · 17/09/2026 20:14

No it’s definitely not worth looking at Blush

My son is only months younger than Lore. I really should be ashamed of myself. Blush

But, nope.

Raahh · 17/09/2026 20:16

Just seen that Ben Shelton has dropped out of the Laver Cup , after reaching the US Open final. I thought he might.

Brandon Nakashima has taken his spot.

JaneJeffer · 17/09/2026 20:38

It’s funny how they want a rule change now but nobody mentioned it when Djokovic was doing it!

Raahh · 17/09/2026 20:40

A rule change may be needed to stop Zverev’s incessant ball bouncing

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/gift/5eb0329a3dce9c39

Djok has been bouncing the ball numerous times for years, (more when he's losing) and it's been reported often.

They were not going to bring in any rules to affect him.

ChessieFL · 17/09/2026 19:14

I wouldn’t call him the ‘face’ of Intimissimi!

😅

Although ball bouncing got mentioned when Marin did it- but never so much when Djok did. Always an excuse for it.

X post.

When they asked Sasha about it before the final he said he wasn’t aware he was doing it and when you then see him not being aware he won the whole thing it’s easy to believe it Grin

I do think there is a difference- I'm not Sascha's biggest fan ,I do like Marin- but you see the difference between the players who have a 'routine' (Marin has always done the ball bouncy thing)- and the ones who often change it
Djok changes it, to disrupt play. There's nothing in the rules to say you can't - but when the bounciing becomes excessive, it's annoying.

JaneJeffer · 17/09/2026 20:53

I mean it is annoying but it is going to be hard to enforce a maximum number of bounces. Maybe they can have a bounce counter alongside the hateful shot clock!

Raahh · 17/09/2026 20:56

I hate the bloody shot clock

I don't get the point. I swear matches have have actually got longer since it was introduced.

It's like speed limits- players see it as a target, not a limit.

IceandIndigo · 17/09/2026 21:32

The suggestion I’ve seen is for there to be a shot clock for second serves!

I do find excessive bouncing annoying.

IceandIndigo · 18/09/2026 11:19

Holger is playing Davis Cup for Denmark today! Happy to see him back, hoping the injury is fully healed and it all goes well.

That's great news- I can't believe how long it has been! But it's better to be safe than sorry.

Good luck Holger!

IceandIndigo · 18/09/2026 20:10

Holger won his match Smile

There doesn’t seem to be a way to watch the non-GB Davis Cup matches. The DC website has the lower level ties only.

JaneJeffer · 18/09/2026 20:19

I’m so happy for him (and me)!

Raahh · 18/09/2026 20:23

Go Holger! (and Denmark).

kazzaD66 · 19/09/2026 15:09

Well done Toby Samuel, after a very shaky start!! Let's hope Arthur has an easier match!

Fizzywinegum · 19/09/2026 15:13

Holger and Grigor are playing each other now - I’ve no idea if it’s being shown anywhere - it’s good to see Holger back - he’s been away for so long

I just about found GB’s matches on the iplayer - I had to do a search - it wasn’t even showing in the sports section

Samuel has just won the first match - Arthur Fery is up next

kazzaD66 · 19/09/2026 17:06

Well done Arthur! Close first set but then he dominated the second. DS and DH going to watch tomorrow. They only bought the tickets on Thursday night. Unfortunately, I'm not well enough to go with them, so will have to watch on iplayer again Sad

JaneJeffer · 19/09/2026 17:45

Hope you’re ok kazza

I thought they might put something on the RB but it’s just more bloody football results chat.

IceandIndigo · 19/09/2026 21:01

Hope you feel better kazza. My DH and DS are going tomorrow too, DS’ coach got a bunch of free tickets from the LTA. It looks as though they might only get one match, as GB have already won 2 singles and will be heavy favourites in the doubles. Or maybe they’ll play a dead rubber?

Fizzywinegum · 20/09/2026 08:13

Hope you’re ok kazza

I went to some of the Davis cup matches in Manchester a few years ago - it’s usually a good atmosphere - hopefully there’ll still be some good tennis today
