I think I've got a crush on DCI Gene Hunt

So I've just watched Life on Mars and I am now watching Ashes to Ashes which I think I am enjoying even more.
Somewhere along the lines I seem to have developed a crush on DCI Hunt.
He's very much of his time of course but he's actually really honest, loyal and cares about fighting criminals/evil. I guess he is firm but fair.

I find him very amusing to watch 'you're surrounded by armed bastards'

Did anyone else feel strangely attracted to him? I sort of miss more old fashioned men. I know that is really uncool to say that but so many men nowadays seem so feminine/unmanly.

Oh god yes, it was quite the phenomenon at the time! And I was not immune. I’m an 80s girl, so 80s Gene was my preference - all that 70s brown and nylon didn’t do him justice. I’ve rewatched several times and still feel the same!

Jeez I had no idea the guy was considered such a catch. Oh well on the positive side I'm not as weird as I thought I was. On the negative it looks like there might be a catfight for him (and lets be honest he would likely enjoy that!)

I really enjoying watching his attachment to Drake grow although I'm a little bit confused as I thought he was married? No spoilers please. I'm still on the first series of ashes to ashes but I'm already wondering if somehow they end up together.

Omg how I envy someone watching Life on Mars and Ashes for the first time - DH and I watched most of the last episode standing in front of the TV, it was almost unbearable 🤯
And yes, Gene Hunt is wonderful!

I honestly had no idea. I mean he's a middle aged, slightly overweight, slightly rough looking guy. I was amused at my growing crush thinking I really need to get a life.

Just goes to show that woman are attracted to so much more than just looks.

It's so good. I have a huge Keeley Hawes crush as well.

Yes I do love the female actress too. She is very watchable and good in the role.
