Recently Ive watched Life Begins and Fat Friends. I love the absolute normalness of it all. Very ordinary, British and nostalgic. Whay else would I like?

Just finishing Life begins now and I know what you mean, they just don’t make great series like this anymore 😄

It feels so simple! They all look like ordinary people and no one is trying too hard to be original or overly wacky.

It was, but I think it might be on now??

It's a BBC show so you could try iPlayer too! Or YouTube.

I know! I love how Maggie is so normal and confident with herself and the fact that no one has Botox or, how normal and messy the house is, so much like my house was in the 00s when the kids were young. Same with fat friends - I keep thinking it’s just me getting old, because it’s rare that I find a series these days that really appeals.

2 pints of lager and a packet of crisps
I love to binge watch Benidorm!back in the day I loved Birds of a feather.

Yes! Also she wasn’t especially ambitious whicj is strangely refreshing but still held down a job and wanted her independence. There was NO big makeover or anything and paul still liked her.

I rather enjoyed Desperate Housewives.

The I.T. Crowd.

Not Going Out.

Two Pints Of Lager

Benidorm.

The Office.

Shameless... Lots of bad language and 'adult' content though.

I enjoyed The Inbetweeners at the time, but when I watch it now, I do wonder how they got away with some of the things they did and said! 😬

Although not 00s, I’m really enjoying Rivals for the British thing and nostalgia of course!

CrossPurposes · 15/05/2026 20:38

At Home with the Braithwaites

Clocking Off

purpleme12 · 15/05/2026 20:41

I mean I loved At Home with the Braithwaites but it wasn't 'normal' 😆😆

MayWelland · 15/05/2026 20:41

No Angels - nurses in Leeds. Loved that show

AndresyFiorella · 15/05/2026 20:43

Not 00s but The Royle Family surely fits your bill perfectly.

I second Detectorists (on iPlayer) for wonderful British comfort watching. Also Small Prophets if you missed it a couple of months ago (still on iPlayer I think).

I have never watched this properly, but have enjoyed the odd episodes I have caught. I may try and watch this from start to finish soon. Smile
