Recently Ive watched Life Begins and Fat Friends. I love the absolute normalness of it all. Very ordinary, British and nostalgic. Whay else would I like?

I have never heard of this. (Stella.) Just looked into it, and it looks really good. I will hunt it down, and watch it. There's loads of episodes too. Nearly 60! How did I miss this? I really like Ruth Jones! 😊

Thank you for this. 😘

I was going to suggest Stella. This is one of my go to feel good normal 'family life' type shows that I watch when I want something fairly laid back and normal.

I also enjoyed Cold Feet for the same reason, all the older seasons, plus the newer ones and Mount Pleasant was good too.

Two more recent ones:
Scarborough with Jason Manford.
The Cockfields with Joe Wilkinson

Scarborough is fabulous.

Why don't you try searching @Newsenmum ? Even if they aren't on, it brings up 'similar to', so you might discover something then.

Has anyone said “Hebburn” - a showcase of the NE’s finest - Jim Moir, Gina McKie, Chris Ramsay.

Gavin and Stacey. All of them. On repeat forever

It’s from the 80s but I loved Making Out. Based in a factory in Manchester (I think).
I’d forgotten about The Smoking Room till I saw it mentioned on here just now. I loved it at the time! Couldn’t make it now, though..!

The brilliant Phoenix Nights?

And, I don’t think it’s been mentioned on here but the absolutely wonderful Early Doors. It’s written by Craig Cash and it’s got huge Royale Family vibes. One of the best British comedies ever, IMHO.

I live in Bolton we held my sons christening party at the " Phoenix Club".

When DM first had her cancer diagnosis she was in hospital for 4 days. I moved into her house to look after the dog. It was “Twixtmas”. I watched G&S on repeat, then Dectectirists, then G&S etc that whole time.

Hebburn was fab. I really fancied Chris Ramsey at the time!
