I like Anisa. That food looked yummy in a not weird way. She is also very pretty.

bungobungobungo · 29/04/2026 21:59

Cookingdoesntgettougher · 29/04/2026 21:59

I always make my mince pies with an orange zest frangipane lid instead of pastry.

My next door neighbour does that - and puts some cream cheese in the filling. Heaven!

Piggywaspushed · 29/04/2026 22:00

Heartbroken to see my Lenford go but I will be recovered by tomorrow.

ilovesooty · 29/04/2026 22:00

See you tomorrow!

bungobungobungo · 29/04/2026 22:01

TheDogsMother · 29/04/2026 22:01

I like mine made with puff pastry. Wait for them to cool, take the lid off, dollop of home-made brandy butter, lid back on, squidge and eat…

I sometimes do that too (the frangipane tops) and they're really nice. Have to make them small, though, as they're also very rich!

Can never eat steak tartare again after ordering it (without knowing what it was) the night before a flight home.

About 4am this morning, I recalled this comment and how it reminded me of the first and only time I ate steak tartare, also not knowing what it was and too hungry to care. Then I went down a rabbit hole, remembering comments wondering where Esma had gone and how we all miss her rapier wit. People on this thread are the perfect friends - we have a shared interest, we interact as much or as little as we choose and nobody is going to come round to be judgemental about my dusty skirting boards, weird habits or horrible new shoes (ugly but sooo comfortable.) The downside is that people can just vanish and we won't know why. I build up quite detailed mental pictures of you all and want you to know that if fate causes me or you to disappear for whatever reason, you are all much appreciated in the here and now.

Went to Paris for mates big bday. Posh restaurant, someone ordered steak tartar. It was an absolute mountain. He ate as much as he could, we all had bits. He was hiding it under lettuce leaves (he was getting evils from the host) and we all smuggled bits out in tissues and dumped in the bin.

Yes, I miss Esma too. I’ve gone as far as searching to see if she’s been active recently (bit stalkerish of me?) and there’s nothing at all so I fear she may have left MN for some reason. But if so I too will long cherish her wickedly hilarious comments.

My sole experience was as a delegate at a student conference evening reception in Bonn years ago. Nobody had eaten all day and we fell on the canapes like starving bears. I thought it was pate and ate about three pieces until a more sophisticated student ( I remember he was from Luftborough!) told us what it was. He said we should give it a swerve as it had been sitting out for too long (it was definitely on the warmish side). Nobody got food poisoning but we all felt a bit nauseous wondering if we would.

Just catching up on the comments - I missed most of last night's episode, exhausted after a particularly busy day at work, I must have nodded off after about ten minutes. Then I woke up just as they were beginning to cook for the critics and thought I may as well watch that before going to bed except I promptly fell asleep again and missed the lot. Maybe I'll watch it on player while I catch up with my ironing over the weekend - rain is forecast after all.

Anyway, here I am, awake and rested, ready for the whole hour!

PotterHead1985 · Yesterday 21:01

Evening all. So flipping tired. Why does it gotta be on at 9pm?
