We've just started watching this, way after everybody else. But isn't it great? Last night was the one in series 2 with the ATM.
What are other poster's favourites?

OP posts:

I absolutely love Breaking Bad, have seen it three times all the way through and half watched a fourth time. I love that it bears repeat viewing, first time around I had much more sympathy for Walt, I think I was blinded by the 'dying from cancer' thing, second time around I couldn't believe what I didn't see the first time.

I won't say more, but I loved it. I have watched Better Call Saul but I just didn't love it as much.

I haven't seen Ozark, so I might go back and watch that.

On first watch I was rooting for Walt and couldn't stand Skyler particularly in the first couple of series, kept thinking leave the poor guy alone and go away!

On second watch I can't believe that previous me had that opinion, you realise Walt is an awful, awful man even from the beginning, and Skyler was just doing whatever she could to protect her family.

Anyway, Ozymandias, Felina and Salud are my favourite episodes but the ATM one OP mentioned is also a great one. Also the whole arc in Series 2 where the very biiiggg event happens and the chain of events leading up to that (trying to avoid giving away spoilers).

Breaking Bad took a few episodes to really find its feet but once it did it was an incredible piece of character-driven story telling. I thought The Wire was much more uneven - when it was good it was genuinely superb but there were a fair number of episodes that were a bit of a slog. It's definitely worth watching but of the two I think Breaking Bad was the better.

I think how much sympathy/empathy you feel for the different characters as the storyline plays out is one of the things that shows just how well written it was. Without wishing to give too much away for those who haven't watched it, Walt could be seen as pretty much everything from a heroic survivor to an anti-hero to an outright psychopath and back again depending on where you are in the story. Skyler is similarly really hard to pigeon-hole.

It’s a work of genius. Brian Cranston is phenomenal and so are the rest of the cast.

Can’t tell you my favourite scene as it’s a total spoiler but it’s brilliant.

I've tried three or four times to get into this but can't get past the first couple of episodes. May have to try again

Keep going, I didn't get it until the last episode of season 1 but it is fantastic!

Also loved Better Call Saul.

I think I watched the first half of the first episode about 5 times. Once you get past the first few it's insanely good. I'm watching it now for probably the 4th time.

FlyHighLikeABird · 28/02/2026 00:11

@GasperyJacquesRoberts @Thesummer agree with both of you, it's that depth of writing and acting (and also the setting/set is amazing, the colours, the symbolism) that takes you in different directions each time. I also love how your feelings for Jesse morph; mine have as well with repeated watching, perhaps as my own children have aged.

Is that the series with the very strange teasers (is that the right word) at the beginning? There's a point when you realise 'Oh that's what's going to happen'. Quite chilling and very clever lead up to it.

I like Jesse's story arc throughout the series. After the episode with the junkies' baby I realised he wasn't all bad. When he went back to his parents I could see why he was the way he was.

Disturbia81 · 28/02/2026 08:28

One of my favourites, better call saul is amazing too.

JekiJendor · 28/02/2026 10:16

Better call Saul next. I’d argue it’s even better than BB

XelaM · 28/02/2026 10:19

ChamonixMountainBum · 26/02/2026 14:00

I would say watch better call Saul first and then breaking bad!

Couldn't get into Better Call Saul at all but Breaking Bad (seasons 1-4) is AMAZING

cramptramp · 28/02/2026 10:30

I tried a few times to get into it and failed. I thought it was daft.

Yes a think Better call Saul is better than BB too. Probably my 2nd favourite series ever (with The Americans at the top).

UglyJumper · 28/02/2026 13:50

Love the series that have been mentioned here so I'm going to add 'Sons of Anarchy'.

Same here, dh and I tried it a few years back and forced ourselves through most of the first season to see if it got any better…..it didn’t.

We couldn’t see the hype of it at all, but we are all different. My siblings love it and have even rewatched it etc.

TenaAngst · 28/02/2026 14:35

I loved Badger !

Certaintyneeded · 28/02/2026 14:45

I think I need to rewatch as I’m not recognising some of the references on here!

Stressybetty · 28/02/2026 14:47

Yes it's incredible along with Better call Saul. Going to watch Pluribus too soon.

I loved Badger !

Me too 🤣😂

Tcateh · 28/02/2026 16:18

Nooo, you must watch BCS afterwards otherwise you won't know who the people are, and how they sit in the BB story.
It's so cool to see a character you know from BB in BCS.

Envious of you being a first timer!!!

Thesummer · 28/02/2026 16:30

TenaAngst · 28/02/2026 14:35

I loved Badger !

And Skinny Pete, especially their loyalty to Jesse in El Camino 😭

Certaintyneeded · 28/02/2026 17:01

Is El Camino directly linked to BB?

MrsCarmelaSoprano · 28/02/2026 17:09

I love that Skinny Pete plays classical piano , so clever /sad to show he came from a family who cared about lessons.

Disturbia81 · 28/02/2026 17:10

Yes it’s Jesses story set immediately after the last episode with flashbacks to bb.
