It was really lovely- so many of the skaters skated really well and looked happy at the end. I will say I was a bit relieved when Petrosian fell on the quad because she was the only one of the top skaters that I didn't want to end up on the podium. 😜 I love Kaori's skating and her programs so was rooting for her, but I hope she can still feel proud of her silver medal and her career overall desite her disappointment.

I felt sorry for Petrosian, not for falling, but because she was the only one of the women who didn't seem to be part of the camraderie and happiness. She had a face like she was expecting a beating later. It's very sad.

The Japanese, in particular (men and women) always seem so cheerful and supportive, as do their coaching teams.

They really were amazing. The gold one was one of my favourites.

the mass start biathlon was thrilling. However I think the commentator needed someone to bounce off and he must be hoarse from talking solidly for over 30 minutes.

He did a great job though, it's a real skill to build a story like that. The WWII poem at the end was a bit much, but overblown rhetoric is part of the fun of sports broadcasting.

I'll be glad to get back to work next week if I don't have to watch any more curling ...

I’m so sick of curling. I can’t believe they played an endless semi final instead of the women’s figure skating last night.

Does anyone care about curling?!

I thought we might be free of it today but nooooooooo!

Have you seen the film I, Tonya @placemats? it’s really good.

daps your despair is making me laugh 🤭

placemats · 20/02/2026 17:27

I have watched it several times @JaneJeffer and love it.

HollyGolightly4 · 20/02/2026 17:38

The storyville docs are superb.

DuncinToffee · 20/02/2026 17:58

I was pleasantly surprised that the BBC was showing the Women's 1500m speed skating. Fantastic gold for the Netherlands

Raahh · 20/02/2026 19:08

Gus Kenworthy just did a great second run run the Freeski half pipe(his first was throwaway one).

I bloody love biathlon and so pleased it's been one of the biggest events of the games (even without laegrids behaviour 😳)

Lots of falling over tonight!

Raahh · 20/02/2026 19:21

@HollyGolightly4 There has been- and Gus is moving down now, as expected- another run to go still. I'm wierdly invested in this Grin.

The men have had to do qualifying and the final in one day, due to the weather, so it's a tough day.

Bill and Ted are cracking me up with the commentary.

Raahh · 20/02/2026 19:23

Did he just say 'there is the squat of heart break' Grin

Raahh · 20/02/2026 19:36

No improvement for Gus, but a good shot, considering some of the competitors are nearly half his age!

HollyGolightly4 · 20/02/2026 19:37

That's interesting @Raahh , I didn't realise that!

Love Bill and Ted 🤣🤣

There was a 17 year old in the qualifications, he looked even younger- made me feel ancient. Grin.

SabrinaThwaite · 20/02/2026 19:45

Bill and Ted doing their best Fast Show tonight.

Quite a gritty and disturbing film in parts, but really good film

I like the green of the Estonian's suit.

I have no idea what Bill and Ted are talking about, but it's fun.
