Despite looking like the son of a billionaire Bond villain, Malinin seems like a good chap and I felt so sorry for him tonight. The pressure was showing on all 5 we saw and he's been the athlete of the games.

I loved the Japanese skater who got silver being so excited for his teammate who won a completely unexpected bronze. So funny and sweet.

She came last in the Snowboard Cross qualifier and was too huffy upset to even stand with the other three for piccies

I quite fancy a go on the skeleton. It looks fun! DH called me in from the kitchen to marvel at the way their butt cheeks wobbled on the bumpy bits I'd give everyone a mighty jiggle to admire.

Oh Malinin was only 5 points ahead at the start but Yuma's performance was poor too. Wonder if someone sabotaged the ice.😆

Late back to this as watched the podium . I’m thrilled for Sato as he really deserved a medal . I feel sorry for Malinin but he really has relied on his jumps and when that fails he’s got nothing else . He was very good going to speak to the lovely chap who won but apparently according to one of the US news sites he has had an absolute meltdown afterwards . I love the fact that Sato had taken his boots off because he thought he’d be 4th .

I think he’s allowed to have a meltdown after doing the right thing though.

He must have been living in a pressure cooker for months / years.

(Although I think using a music track based around his own spoken pontifications was particularly wanky).

If I'd just fluffed my biggest work opportunity in front of Simone Biles, a full stadium audience, my competitors and millions of people watching on TV I'd be having a meltdown too.

Disappointed I can’t see the gold medal skating performance. The BbC missed it in favour of boring ice hockey and post skeleton waffling

Thanks. I looked for it on the 2 live channels on iplayer but one switched to ice hockey before he skated and the skeleton channel switched over just after him

Malinin the poor sausage. I wanted to give him a big mum hug at the end. Feel bad for all of the top three, the pressure must’ve been terrible. The gold medal performance was great, though.

just about to rewatch the ice skating, i dont really like it - they totally hyped up Malinin. and were just lost for words when he failed

Think they just said on the radio, that that’s the first British male winter Olympic medal, or maybe gold medal, since 1984!
