Welcome to Thread 8 of Traitors 2026.

This thread runs at TV pace so do not read any further if you are not up to date with the live broadcast. Whilst most discussion will be on the current series, inevitably people will refer to previous series/players/winners so reader beware if you’ve not seen the 3 previous editions, or the celebrity version.

While we welcome posters discussing their theories and speculating on relationships/connections between players, please don’t post spoilers from elsewhere that may ruin things for those of us who like to see things unfold over the course of the series.

The story so far (as at end of Ep 6):

Traitors
Hugo
Rachel
Stephen
Fiona (Secret Traitor)

Murdered
Netty
Ben
Maz
Reece

Banished
Judy (Faithful)
Hugo (Traitor)
Ross (Faithful)
Amanda (Faithful)
Fiona (Traitor)
Harriet (Faithful)

Jessie, James and Adam are the potential murder candidates, but both Jessie and James have shields.

The floor is yours…

The old thread isn’t quite full yet but I’m putting this up now as I’m about to pop out for a bit!

Really appreciate it @cavemum

Thank you for the new thread! Picking up on the point from the last one, I realise I'm unsure what happens if they try to murder someone who has a shield: do they get told that the person has a shield? Or are they left to see them coming to breakfast and they have to work it out for themselves? Does the person who they failed to murder get told the traitors attempted to murder them?

beasmithwentworth · 15/01/2026 17:07

Thanks @CaveMum. You have had your work cut out for you this series! Much appreciated.

I remember this happening in a US Traitors (yes, I have NO life). The person said they'd had a shield - can't remember if they knew there'd been an attempted murder or if they just announced it anyway. Either way, it had repercussions ... But the difference then was only one person had the shield, this time loads do, so not sure

SomersetBrie · 15/01/2026 17:27

They showed Claudia putting the letter down on the chair - so that suggests that someone will open it. If that's what happens, it's such a risk for the traitors as they show themselves up to be people who don't know who has shields.

I would have recruited last night rather than risk that - or maybe try to murder someone in Rachel's (or Stephen's) group who did have a shield and throw them off scent with a failed murder.

butimamonstersaidthemonster · 15/01/2026 17:41

AI says it has happened in the uk before but won’t elaborate on what happened.

Wasn’t that how Charlotte threw Freddie under the bus? Didn’t tell him Leanne had a shield and put her down to be murdered.

IIRC Leanne got the murder letter but it just didn’t do anything as she had the shield

ilovesooty · 15/01/2026 17:58

Thank you.

MrsLeonFarrell · 15/01/2026 17:59

I don't think Claudia tells them whether there was a shield or a recruitment if they all come down to breakfast. It's up to them to speculate. Sometimes they get it right, sometimes they are very wrong.

I've re watched yesterday's episode today. There is so much that i miss on the first viewing because in the drama i forget to look at expressions and listen carefully to what they say.

SoScarletItWas · 15/01/2026 18:04

Here for tonight’s discussion and my royalties from Marina and Richard for stealing the interchangeables.

firstofallimadelight · 15/01/2026 18:16

I do not understand their logic of murdering it was the perfect time to recruit. Either they have murdered someone and it will obvious what groups the traitors were in or they picked someone with a shield and it’s a wasted opportunity

AuntyAngela · 15/01/2026 18:23

I think the Faithful knows they were the intended murder as they get the letter. The Traitors won't know their murder was shielded until the morning when the Faithful walks in.

BeaLola · 15/01/2026 18:25

So hope they "murdered" someone with a shield and the faithful with a shield keeps quiet

As far as I'm aware, the person told to go and find the letter on the chair won't know before they open it whether it is a letter saying they've been murdered, or another letter asking if they would like to be recruited as a traitor.

So even if they do have a shield, they get a letter either way.

It is then up to the person to tell everyone at breakfast it was a failed murder attempt because they had a shield, or tell them it was a recruitment offer they turned down. If they do either of those things, it could backfire on them because other faithfuls might think they are lying.

The other option is to say absolutely nothing and cause consternation all round. Then nobody will trust anybody.

CaveMum · 15/01/2026 18:45

The pressure will come from the other Faithfuls. If no one immediately says “they tried to kill me” they will all assume a recruitment so if the truth comes out later - ie by disclosing to someone they think they can trust but who spills the beans - then the instant assumption will be that they must be lying to deflect from being recruited. You can’t win either way.

The only option is to keep it completely to yourself. There’s a chance Claudia might tell them there was a failed murder, but she’s not done that before when it’s been unclear about recruitment or murder. If there’s one thing this series has taught us, it’s that there are no rules!

Whichever way it goes on not sure it will give anyone much information at this point.

LighthouseLED · 15/01/2026 18:53

Was yesterday’s mission the first one where money was directly deducted for each shield? Don’t remember that happening before.

fairydust11 · 15/01/2026 19:01

Thanks for the new thread, place marking for later!
@firstofallimadelight in answer to why they didn’t choose to recruit, I think after the Fiona fiasco, they’d rather keep the traitors to just the two of them. Although they could recruit tonight if the murder doesn’t go to plan.

NewAgeNewMe · 15/01/2026 19:03

I think it may have been.

The missions this year are definitely set up to divide the players and cause problems.

...or it is a very cunning double bluff. Triple bluff.

threesocksmorgan · 15/01/2026 19:09

Isn’t Roxy the daughter of the Second Lady to be banished?

Mimosa3andmore · 15/01/2026 19:13

I think they may have made a mistake deciding to murder last night. I would have tried to recruit Jessie - if only to confuse Matt when he found out!

Sminty2 · 15/01/2026 19:16

Why is there still a SECOND ENVELOPE!

There was one under Harriet’s traitor reveal letter.

When are/will they be opened or have they been and no one can speak the words?
