Landman on Paramount Plus

I am so enjoying watching season 2 of Landman on Paramount Plus. It really makes you feel the emotions even though it is all totally outside my experience!

The last 3 episodes have been a bit slow, I hope it picks up.

Oh, I found season 2 episode 1 a bit slow but it did pick up, all the stuff with his dad etc. The acting is just so good.

I cannot get along with the ridiculous ex wife character.
It completely ruins it for me, so unrealistic, waste of time silly story line that any time the character is on the screen my interest dives. Too far fetched and just nonsense.
Not sure of the care home rules in the states, but I’m pretty sure that you couldn’t get lap dancers as an activity into any in the U.K. and of course the po faced manager will chase them out to tell them to come back again on request of the residents. Just WTF is the point of that storyline?

I stopped watching after that, ruined it for me.

Yes, she is a bit crazy!

But British actor Guy Burnet is in it now and he is lovely!

It's my favourite series at the moment. I think I might watch Mayor of Kingstown next as I often see it recommended.

Best television show ever made imo. I love the wife, she’s a really interesting and complex character. Also the actress, Ali Larter is fantastic at playing her. She’s really driven to look after her (bonkers) ‘family’ of randoms, whether that’s the people in the care home or the collection of oddballs who live in her house. She has a heart of gold and is equally good at playing someone so flawed. She is desperate to make her marriage work and when Billy Bob makes even a teensy criticism she goes postal (because she’s afraid it will be all over)

the addition of another really flawed character played impeccably by Sam Neill has really added something

it’s so rare to see so many people allowed to be flawed humans in a show

And that’s not even talking about the plot, which is so incredible - I knew NOTHING about the oil industry unless you count Dallas 40 years ago the whole thing is so fascinating

I started watching Mayor of Kingstown. A bit violent for me.

Also, Spoiler alert, sexualisation of the women and violence against women. Which i didn't see in Yellowstone or Landman or Tulsa King.

Well i've made it onto episode 2 of Mayor of kingstown but @Conniebygaslight I don't understand his obsession wirh the bear!

I love landman but Taylor Sheridan writes women so strangely across the board. The stuff that Aisnley was saying to her dad at 17, and the way she’s been sexualised when she’s an actual child is so so odd! I know the actress is in her 20’s but the character is 17 talking about cum with her dad 🤢

I agree the wife and daughter spoil it for me am not sure why they portray them the way they do.
I enjoy it when they aren’t in it. I haven’t really enjoyed the second series.

I’m loving season 2 more than the first one. Angela and Ainsley are crazy but very funny.

I didn’t realise it’s the season finale tonight. So now I’m sad. I really hope we get a season 3.

Just to add, and not trying to be bitchy but I’m curious what you all think. Is Demi actually deliberately acting as someone quite cold / expressionless or is it the Botox? I’m like it to be her actual acting skills but….her face from the top lip up seems to be completely frozen.

Looking forward to series 3.
