Oh that's a fair point I completely forgot about all the pregnant women!!

slipperypenguin · 01/01/2026 03:15

The best finale I have watched in a long time

2026onwardsandup · 01/01/2026 03:20

I agree that the first half was really exciting . I did find the second half was perhaps a bit too long and was a bit too neatly tied up . Mostly everyone got their happy ending , apart from Kali and perhaps not El . Hopper seemed remarkably happy / philosophical after losing El .

Duh - not sure if I knew before and had forgotten - but didn’t realise it was Linda Hamilton …

Strokethefurrywall · 01/01/2026 03:24

I really wanted a visual of Sam Owens, he was so pivotal in S4, and even though not in more than one season, Enzo just chilling with his kid in Russia or something. Tying up all those extra characters that brought so much to the show.

And the ending of Dr Kay would have been nice, she didn’t do much!

Lifeispeacefulthere · 01/01/2026 03:28

Perfect ending, absolutely loved it. Don't know how I'm going to fall asleep now!

Daytimetellyqueen · 01/01/2026 03:32

Good point about Sam Owens @Strokethefurrywallbut I don’t remember Enzo at all - who was he?

rockstarshoes · 01/01/2026 03:41

I loved it! I am a sucker for a happy ending though!

Loved it, keep remembering bits and their 80s movie references. Laughed out loud at the home alone stuff. One I feel like I've seen before but can't place iss when Vecnas fingers go right through the soldiers head eyes. I thought it looked Edward Scissorhands ish but that wasn't gory? Freddie Kruger?

Terminator 2! There are endless references to that. 😀

Zofloramummy · 01/01/2026 04:18

The pregnant women were in the upside down base so I presume they and all of military based there died. I also think El died too and Mike’s vision is wishful thinking.

3rdbabytime · 01/01/2026 04:32

Finally finished! Loved the finale overall. So bloody tired now.
ETA: Had to pause a couple of times when baby woke up for feeding and comfort.

Good point about Sam Owens @Strokethefurrywallbut I don’t remember Enzo at all - who was he?

He was the Russian guard who helped Hopper escape in S4. Just wrapping those guys up. We had Mr Clarke who really wasn’t part of the whole “defending the world” plot until S5,
There were many more likely candidates for a happy shot in S5 than those we got. Even Ted wheeler didn’t get much after his coma!

I'm sure on second watch tomorrow I’ll think differently but I’d have loved to have seen those guys get their happy ending too.

DeepBlueDeer · 01/01/2026 06:12

Didn't enjoy the rest of the season very much but that was a really good finale.

Loopytiles · 01/01/2026 08:24

Enjoyed it!

Jamie Campbell Bower’s performance was fantastic.

I'm happy!

Thought it was a great finale. Would have enjoyed a split of an hour 15 v 45 minutes ish for the split of adventure/ future but it was good.

Awkward conversation on the roof with the older gang, but perhaps that's actually quite a natural representation of friends meeting up after being at uni etc 🤣.

Loved the D+D ending so much 💕

hmdxm1 · 01/01/2026 10:03

I’d forgotten about the pregnant women, but only Hopper and El knew about them right? Did they tell the others? Does Mike know that’s why El felt so strongly she needed to end it?

Loopytiles · 01/01/2026 10:03

@Daytimetellyqueen Nell Fisher got a named credit in the final closing credits, which had some fabulous art!

I absolutely loved that. I thought it was one of the best TV finales I’ve seen. It felt like an 80s kids adventure. I believe 😍

Loved the end of the credits when it showed Stranger Things as a D&D adventure manual. Perfect.

Lifeispeacefulthere · 01/01/2026 10:29

Where would I go to read up on all the references and bits/clues I might have missed, does anyone know? I'd really like to rewatch from the beginning with my eyes open to it all...

skyeisthelimit · 01/01/2026 11:09

It was a great finale, but it did take ages to end, although it was wrapping everyone up nicely.

Do "I believe"? I don't know. DB are keeping their options open aren't they.... El could come back in a few years if we believe.

I think it is just Mike desperately trying to keep El alive in his mind, leaving her happy and unhunted. Although the thing with the speakers at the graduation was a bit odd and I expected the camera to pan around to El watching from nearby which didn't happen.

Joyce's axe skills were great to watch Grin

suki1964 · 01/01/2026 11:30

OMG - what a roller coaster of an ending

I loved it

That did make me very happy!

Good point @Zofloramummy although I didn’t quite follow the upside down lab.

I do think El is dead but happy to ‘believe’.

Loved it all! So many options for future spin offs if they choose! Very excited for the stage show in a couple of weeks!

weegielass · 01/01/2026 11:56

I thought it was a shite ending. Still too many unanswered questions.
