Christmas is close, 🎄 we've had minus temperatures for a wee while, and the darker days and sunset by 4pm is with us.

Let Undead Becky continue to bore and annoy us! Let nasty Theo continue to infuriate us! Let the potential child grooming storylines shock us! Let Carl Chuckle Brother continue to shag anything with a pulse! (And hopefully dump Abi!) AND let's get ready for Christmaaaaaaaaaas!!!!!! 🎅❄🎄

Jason is feisty but he's half Theo's size and very dim!

Uncle Ronnie could definitely sort out Carl though. I hope he gets the opportunity!

Janette Kranky 😂

eggandonion · 03/12/2025 08:34

Oh I really like Uncle Ronnie. He was a bit pointless when he arrived but he has become increasingly lovely...Uncle Ronnie and Jason combined against Theo would be excellent.

The way things pan out this wouldn't be impossible.

AmusedMaker · 03/12/2025 09:09

I love Debbie/Sue and can’t quite understand why they’re getting rid of her? But as PP said, you can live years with dementia so hopefully she’ll be around for a while.
although, if I were on the script writing team I’d send Debbie off to a nice Greek island to spend her final years, and get Ronnie & Glenda together to eventually take over the Rovers. I think they’d go really well together.

Just realised that Bay City Becky reminds me of Janette Krankie ! Just give her a cap😁

LMFAO! 😆 I see what you mean.

I really don't want to see Debbie decline into immobility and incontinence like my mother (not that they would ever show that). They have chosen vascular dementia so she will probably have a convenient stroke relatively early. Mike Baldwin had dementia and died from a heart attack while still recognisably 'Mike'. His dementia storyline was really well done.

Agree with all of this.

I think they decided to get rid of the actress who plays Debbie (Sue Devaney,) some time back, and it was a previous producer who decided this, and that she should get dementia. (I could be making this up, but I think this is what happened..)

Like everyone else, I love the character, and it's ridiculous that they are getting rid of her!!! As you say, some people live for some years with dementia, and can be fairly independent for a while. Didn't Terry Pratchett get it, and live independently for about 9 years after his initital diagnosis?

Shellingbynight · 03/12/2025 10:25

I think you are right, it was the previous producer who started the Debbie storyline.

Terry Pratchett had PCA which is a rare type of Alzheimers.

My mother had Alzheimers and lived for ten years. By the second year she lost grip on her finances, and was very confused about times and dates, so even as early as that I had to arrange a lot of stuff to keep her 'independent'. In year 3 she moved to a care home. I suspect Sir Terry had a large amount of unseen help with that 'independence'.

Uncle Ronnie has some mean threads

zanahoria · 03/12/2025 12:12

Debbie should just announce she no longer has dementia, she thought she had it but was just confused and is OK now.

Not sure what Glenda has done to annoy the producers. She was great at running the Rovers but they took that off her and they never give her a boyfriend.

Alfredo would make a passable Ronnie substitute, they could bring him in for the next ridiculous cocktail night

HaddyAbrams · 03/12/2025 14:31

I love that Glenda is single. There need to be more strong, single women on TV.
I know Mary is single, but shes also strange and therefore not the same in my head.

eggandonion · 03/12/2025 16:38

They don't like people to be single on Corrie. Glenda is a good egg.

NebulousSadTimes · 03/12/2025 17:03

I think with more and more women being single nowadays it's a good idea to have single characters who aren't desperate (looking at Jenny with her ridiculous attempts to hook up with George) for a partner. It's not a bad place to be, after all.

the80sweregreat · 03/12/2025 20:16

I’m trying to back into Corrie after decades.
Can I ask who is Costello and why has that Becky (? )got his phones with the other man? The new Rovers owners are Irish too!

the80sweregreat · 03/12/2025 20:17

Feel sorry for Theo and his with that abusive man :(

mumofoneAloneandwell · 03/12/2025 20:18

Theo is a great actor, really believable

the80sweregreat · 03/12/2025 20:26

I mean, I feel sorry for Todd with Theo .

mumofoneAloneandwell · 03/12/2025 20:28

Oh, 80s 😭 I meant todd too

mumofoneAloneandwell · 03/12/2025 20:28

Can you really kill someone by injecting air into their cannula?

HaddyAbrams · 03/12/2025 20:36

Yes. It can cause an embolism

mumofoneAloneandwell · 03/12/2025 21:01

HaddyAbrams · 03/12/2025 20:36

Yes. It can cause an embolism

Oh wow 🥺

I know in babies it could, but one air injection being all it takes to kill an adult is scary

SabreIsMyFave · 03/12/2025 21:42

OMG tonight's was another good one. Theo is grim as usual, and poor Todd is like a frightened rabbit. Theo was tracking Todd on his run FGS. Theo's unhinged!

I can't figure out why DeeDee has finished with her bloke (forget his name sorry.... it's Eva's stepson?) Anyone know?

Carla's moved back in, but isn't getting back with Lisa! (She said she doesn't see why SHE should be living in a hotel....) Gonna be soooo #awkward!

Edited

Glad she moved back

wish Todd would stand up to Theo

1reason · 03/12/2025 21:57

Another good episode.
The actor who plays Theo is doing well now...lovebombing Todd with a fitness watch...so he can track him!
Puzzled about DeeDee splitting with Ollie too. His brother was so jealous of Megan with Daniel in pub.
Looking forward to next episode.
