Christmas is close, 🎄 we've had minus temperatures for a wee while, and the darker days and sunset by 4pm is with us.

Let Undead Becky continue to bore and annoy us! Let nasty Theo continue to infuriate us! Let the potential child grooming storylines shock us! Let Carl Chuckle Brother continue to shag anything with a pulse! (And hopefully dump Abi!) AND let's get ready for Christmaaaaaaaaaas!!!!!! 🎅❄🎄

@Shellingbynight I think @ErlingHaalandsManBun makes a fair point, Debbie's a character we care about so the storyline will have more impact. Had that been, for example, Leanne's speech last night my eyes would have stayed dry.

I'm still sad to see Sue D go when she eventually does but hopefully she'll get other parts that we can enjoy.

I barely watch and could tell immediately how epic Debbie is, she had me weepy last night

If Leanne had made that speech, or Toyah, or any number of other 'okay characters' that people would prefer to be leaving the show then no-one would have been moved by that speech. And no-one would really care that much. They may feel a bit sad, depending on how well the person acted the part, but no-one would really be that moved. Debbie on the other hand. Well, she will be leaving a massive hole and viewers are going to really invest in this storyline as it progresses and really be moved by it. It could be an award winner for both show and actress and I am sure corrie writers are bearing that in mind.

That's very true @ErlingHaalandsManBun , there's bound to be at least one award in the offing.

I am still wildly clutching at straws and desperately hoping that Debbie has been misdiagnosed, and there is another treatable, reason for her lapses.

Yes they should give her a few years. She's playing this brilliantly. Carl needs to be sent to prison for a long time. Uncle Ronnie and Kevin need to sort him out. And lovely Ryan.
Maybe he could die in one of his dodgy cars along with nasty Abi.
And Aadi should return and mind his sister because Dev and Bernie are not good at helping her.
Id quite like Eva and co to return to Hull.

I know what you mean @ErlingHaalandsManBun but I don't really agree. They gave Paul the MND storyline and he was not originally a character I was bothered about at all. But the actor was brilliant, it was well storylined, I came to really feel his pain, it worked really well.

I just don't think Corrie can afford to chuck such good characters in the bin, they are rapidly running out popular characters (there used to be so many!) Yes it moves us now, but in a year (or whenever) there will be no more Debbie to care about.

Glenda has made clear that she disapproves of her brother seeing Christina so I guess Christina saw it as retaliation

I assume Betsy is a pet name for Elizabeth? At some point she might decide to be Beth or Liz or Ellie or something that Mumsnet would deem suitable or a solicitor or accountant. Bette would be quite cool.
