Christmas is close, 🎄 we've had minus temperatures for a wee while, and the darker days and sunset by 4pm is with us.

Let Undead Becky continue to bore and annoy us! Let nasty Theo continue to infuriate us! Let the potential child grooming storylines shock us! Let Carl Chuckle Brother continue to shag anything with a pulse! (And hopefully dump Abi!) AND let's get ready for Christmaaaaaaaaaas!!!!!! 🎅❄🎄

Sad Doctor Who GIF

Yes Debbie! 👏👏👏👏

mumofoneAloneandwell · 01/12/2025 20:42

Tina deserved that 😄

JewelleryCat · 01/12/2025 20:44

Debbie in the shopping trolley is funny. Much more like Classic Corrie

mumofoneAloneandwell · 01/12/2025 20:46

Sally made me laugh as well 😄

NCTDN · 01/12/2025 21:16

Aww that was poignant when Bernie opened the cupboard to see all the family photos with names, birthdays and relation to Debbie.
Poor Todd.

1reason · 01/12/2025 22:39

Well, that was a pure smorgasbord tonight!
Great mix of emotions which was like Corrie of old.
Surprised to see some of the Weatherfield businesswomen...but no Carla ( factory) or Eva ( pub).
Poor Todd.

SabreIsMyFave · 01/12/2025 23:17

Oooh, yes, another good one tonight. As has been said, more like Classic Corrie. Lots of laughs with all the women! I don't know why TINA did what she did to Glenda - just for a laugh, or because she is secretly still a mean bitch! 😆But it was funny when Glenda chucked her drink over her. When Glenda said 'she said I stink!' the laughter from the other women seemed genuine! Sally made me laugh too, 'when I was mayor...........'Grin

Also, when Debbie said 'me and the usual suspects' - when all the women were standing against a wall, like in the film 'The Usual Suspects' it made me laugh out loud. 😆

Also, yeah, poor Todd. He's becoming a shadow of his former self. Sad

As for Undead Becky saying she can't help feeling Carla leaving may be her fault............................

No shit Sherlock. 🔎

Apart from the Boring Becky stuff, I thought it was a brilliant episode last night. The Usual Suspects were hilarious.

I could have cried for Todd. I think the storyline is being so well acted. I am hoping it culminates in the disappearance, by whatever means, of vile Todd.

zanahoria · 02/12/2025 08:07

I am quite liking Christina at the moment, she seems quite a balanced character, she was mean to Glenda but Glenda has been sticking her beak in. I hope they do not go down then the predictable path of having her scam poor George.

I hope Glenda gets together with Alfredo, she needs a love interest. She is full of the sassy talk but asides from a two week fling with Michael never seen her with a fellah.

strugglingwithlife · 02/12/2025 08:07

Loved the scenes with Debbie, Bernie, Sally, Leanne etc, more like old Corrie. Debbie is fantastic, I wish they weren't doing a dementia storyline with her.
Theo needs to die a painful death! 😡

Shellingbynight · 02/12/2025 08:22

The Debbie scenes were pretty good, more like old Corrie, and involved characters I actually care about. They all looked like they were really enjoying it too! The Debbie dementia storyline is like the Paul storyline, heartbreaking, well acted, good character. I get that they choose an actor who can cope with the demands of it, but at the end of it the producer has chucked them away.

I probably haven't been paying attention but Christina seemed mean for no reason to Glenda. But it had a good payoff with the drink.

I find Todd in isolation kind of pointless. His whole charm and watchability is his sarky/kind interactions with other characters, he was great in the Paul storyline. I know the whole point is that Theo is deliberately isolating him, but they are over-egging it. I wasn't watching over the summer, has Billy ever seen warning signs or has he not really been involved?

CherryogDog · 02/12/2025 08:53

Loved yesterday's episode, so much light and shade.
The Theo/Todd storyline is heartbreaking. Todd has a lot of friends, and it doesn't make sense that none of them are concerned about him having a change of personality when he gets with someone who is basically a complete stranger.
With Jeff and Yasmin the characters were longer standing and more of a slow burner story, rather than an almost over night change.
I hope it gets resolved soon.

MonickerMonica · 02/12/2025 09:06

Another one here who really enjoyed much of last night's hour (it made a pleasant change 🙄 ) and Debbie's talk was so emotional I thought the front row of ladies looked genuinely moved to tears. If not then they played it well.

However throughout all that I couldn't get Todd's broken faced misery and fear in that room waiting for Theo's return out of my thoughts.

We despise him and he WILL be discovered as the evil bully but what state will Todd be in by then?

Shellingbynight · 02/12/2025 09:21

I am hoping Todd will have a revelation like Shelley did, but on modern Corrie that is unlikely, they've already amped it up too far. There will probably be deaths and viaducts and car crashes involved. And within two months it will all be forgotten.

NebulousSadTimes · 02/12/2025 11:32

I hope not @Shellingbynight , that would make the whole thing utterly pointless, like so many of their storylines. We learn from what we've lived through, it shapes us, characters need that too.

has Billy ever seen warning signs or has he not really been involved?

I think he has given a concerned eyebrow raise from time to time but has been quickly distracted and his little doubt was brushed away.

I agree with PPs, that was a much better episode. And I agree with you again @Shellingbynight that they are throwing away a great actor/character by giving Debbie such a storyline. I hope it was a decision Sue Devaney was involved in.

Shellingbynight · 02/12/2025 12:33

Thanks @NebulousSadTimes I was hoping Billy might have noticed something.

Apparently Sue D was not involved in the decision, and had no thoughts of leaving. It's sad to lose such a fabulous character.

rainbowruthie · 02/12/2025 12:46

The awful hateful Theo has shown a 'charming' side to Todd's friends and they have fallen for it Sad
I am hoping that Summer will realise and help him.

Failing that perhaps we could rustle up a MN posse and rescue him...

AmusedMaker · 02/12/2025 12:49

Thing with finding silly little things hilarious when you’ve had a few. is they’re not remotely funny when you’re stone cold sober.

So I’m the miserable one on this thread I’m afraid and confess to not finding last nights episode funny ( pushing someone in a shopping trolley was probably funny when you were 10 )

Hope Todd finds the strength to shove Theo out the window. I’m assuming their relationship will explode over Christmas and be the main Christmas storyline? Nice to see Roy ( hopefully ) happy with a new woman.

luckylavender · 02/12/2025 13:55

I thought it was a great episode

Couldn’t Todd go back to Eileen’s.

hate the way he was apologising to ghastly Theo

eggandonion · 02/12/2025 17:21

Todd needs to wallop Theo with a stapler like uncle Steven did. I detest Theo.
There should be a posse of George, Sarah and Gary to sort Theo out. And bring back Jason to whisk little Todd off to Thailand for a holiday.

I've been thinking about that this afternoon, what a shite decision. I know they need someone with the ability to handle the storyline well but what a loss to the cast, when you think of some of the characters who bring nothing to the party they could be getting rid of 😕

I hate that they are doing this to Debbie too. I love her!! However, I think they needed to use a character that people actually care about for us as viewers to fully connect with this storyline. They couldn't just give it to anybody or it would run the risk of not being quite so impactful.

Let's face it, Debbie is a very popular well loved character so seeing her decline and ultimately die will devastate viewers and move viewers and I guess that is what the Corrie writers are hoping will happen so it will become a storyline that viewers talk about and connect with.

Such a shame to lose her though. I have come to really like her character a lot and she will be really missed.

Shellingbynight · 02/12/2025 17:34

@suburburban yes it is a bit difficult to believe that Todd, surrounded by people he's known all his life, would be so easy to isolate. He could just walk out of the door and be met by half a dozen friends. I realise he's being bullied and gaslighted, but in this instance it doesn't really ring true because Theo is too much of a blunt object. They did this much better with Shelley, Yasmeen and even Lauren.

@NebulousSadTimes yes I agree. She really is one of the best characters. I'm sure Sue will do it justice, but they could have given her plenty of drama without killing her off. Killing off one of the most popular characters is a tad short sighted.
