In my optimistic moments I m hoping it's just to fill in time until lovely Peter returns. There is only so much time he can spend crewing a yacht.

Trying to shoehorn this new family into the 65th birthday episode is ridiculous.

We dont know this family. We don't care about them. We're not invested in the characters. Showing flashbacks to try and garner sympathy for Maggie is not going to work.

To mark the 65th birthday episode, they'd have been better to have Ken, who has been there from the very beginning, and Rita, who's been there for a very long time, reminiscing about past residents and incidents on the Street, with little flashback scenes.

When is this flashback set? Fistbumps only became a thing in the 00s, surely?

How long until it's revealed that Maggie killed her husband 🤔

Or has it already been explained how he died. I zone out when that family is on screen.

Given Maggie's age, and the age of the boys in the flashbacks, Im guessing mid-70s?
