With Alexander Armstrong (the voice of Hey Duggee!) and Caroline Quentin, first aired in 2006 I think

All three seasons are now on Netflix

It might be my winter watch, very much up my street

Did anyone catch it the first time around?

Didn't watch it first time around but starting it tonight.

thesnailandthewhale · 20/09/2025 21:28

I remember watching the first episode with my other half, two days before he announced out of the blue he was leaving me and our baby. Couldnt watch the test at the time, too close to home, will give it a try again 😊

CookingFatCat · 20/09/2025 22:00

I loved this! I will watch again for sure,

Middlemarch123 · 21/09/2025 07:37

I missed this first time around, but am currently working through it, it’s good, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it OP. I’m not a huge Caroline Q fan, personally I think she overacts a bit, but the cast is really good, and her two kids are great.

newyearsresolurion · 21/09/2025 08:10

Watching this atm loving it!

The cast looks so good, although I dont think I've seen Caroline in anything else

Its gonna be so good, it will go on after the soaps for cozy evening vibes

Eventually … took a very long time but got there in the end. We actually get on okay these days, not that our paths cross more than once a year or so.

BlondeFool · 21/09/2025 15:43

Ohh I saw this earlier. I can’t remember it first time around. I love a cozy drama.

Gettingbysomehow · 21/09/2025 15:45

Im binge watching it instead of doing urgent jobs. My weekend has been wasted 😂

ExhaustedPigeon37 · 21/09/2025 15:50

First aired in 2004-2006.

I didn’t watch it the first time round as I was only 16-18 so it wasn’t my “thing”.

Now being 37, married, with one DD14 and 3 DSC (16,14&12) and being pregnant. I’m absolutely loving it!! It’s definitely a guilty pleasure! It’s a bit like Coldfeet, which again I never watched first time round as I was too young, but absolutely love it now and have watched every episode!

Men Behaving Badly was her breakthrough role, a classic, with Leslie Ash, Neil Morrisey and Martin Clunes. I think it was the 80s, very dated now.

Middlemarch123 · 21/09/2025 17:35

Have you watched Last Tango in Halifax OP? Also stars the amazing Anne Reid as mum and grandma. A much better watch than this, imo. Sarah Lancashire, Nicola Walker, a stellar cast, and cozy, but a bit more edgy too.

TennisWithDeborah · 21/09/2025 18:49

I likes this at the time, and again when I watched it a few years ago for the second time. Caroline is great in this role.

DancingTurtle · 21/09/2025 19:52

I kept trying to start a thread on this after Netflix made it my top recommendation earlier this month. But I just couldn't put in to words what I wanted to say.

I remember so much of it from the first time around - especially what people are just about to say. I watched it fresh out of uni with my wonderful boyfriend back in the 00s. Well, 13 years in and he announced out of the blue that he wasn't happy and left me. Turned out there was a colleague waiting in the wings. Now I'm 10 years in to the next relationship. Certainly hits different to how it did the first time!

I love the characters. Series 1, and I love Maggie and the history teacher and Maggie's parents and all of her friends. I can't stand Phil. His character is insufferable and I hate how much he gets away with and no home truths.

It's a bit dated but still well-observed. I "liked" the montage where Maggie is having to do all of the childcare and housework and Phil's just swanning in being Disney Dad.

DancingTurtle · 21/09/2025 19:54

Quite a shock to learn that Maggie is 39 at the start of the programme.

I love seeing the fashion.

It takes time honestly, glad you got there and can even get along x

I loved this - it’s absolutely brilliant I used to watch while breast feeding and my baby is now 21.

I remember by series 3 it had run out of steam and not worth watching.

There's often another woman waiting for them 🤢. I hope that this relationship is 10x the one with him xx

I definitely think it will be an absorbing watch, its a good cast

LadydeBathe · 21/09/2025 22:50

We are enjoying this, and haven’t seen it before. It’s only 21 years old but it’s amazing how incredibly dated it is. The rampant ageism, sexism and inequality are shocking.

We live in St Albans, so we’re enjoying seeing all the local areas - and so many shops that no longer exist.

Frannieisnthappy · 22/09/2025 00:48

I wondered where it was filmed :)

It is entertaining. I didnt watch the first time round but love how dated it looks.

I’m staggered that people could afford those big houses on local job wages!

Yes, Neil Morrisey is in the early series of LOD, he’s been in loads of stuff as has Martin Clunes.

snemrose · 22/09/2025 06:26

I watched this when I saw it come up on Netflix, somehow I missed it the first time round.
I don’t think it has aged well at all and Alexander Armstrongs character is insufferable- unfortunately I know men who still behave like that.
I also thought AA was a crap actor which really upset me because normally I really like him!
