Sorry to be like a dog with a bone with this, but I am outraged! I can’t believe it. They’re saying the system was actually deactivated for 3 calls - and the umpire called two for himself. Then he noticed the system wasn’t calling it so stopped the game and asked the replay - but he saw it was out, so why couldn’t he call it like the prior two? That panel with Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova was so diluted in what she was allowed to say. The players have to be so tight lipped. I really think Sonay Kartal should have said something too - it affects the rep of the game and institution. If the nationalities were reversed I think the press would be very different, of course.

I like how Alcaraz and Rublev ended the match, clear camaraderie and the little discussion about golf with Murray. Cameron bouncing the ball and Kartal staying silent on the up with calling out, not a good look for us brits

I watched the clip and during the wait for something to happen which didn’t Tracy Austin said that Sonay probably couldn’t see it was out from her angle 🤷🏻‍♀️

Some players will back up an opponent when a call is wrong. They are the good sportsman- but it's not always back and white , it's hard whe nyou want to win something badly, I suppose.

Sonay probably could have said something, but easier to say she she didn't see it.

Sonay in the press conference said she was too short to see properly, and thought at the time it was in. She was asked hypothetical questions about if she’d known it was out, would she have given the point, and she said she felt the decision to replay it was fair. It was a bit of a shame that a lot of the questions ended up being about this rather than about her achievements. It was a crap call though! In the end, she didn’t win the set anyway, but if she had then people would have been saying it was because of a bad call.

Everything being said, I have realy liked what I have seen of Sonay, and she has risen in the rankings and shown she can compete with the best.
