With only five posts left on the old thread, thought I'd start this so we can link between the two.

Giving to charity, "Zakat", is one of the five pillars of Islam and I think it's good that their donation was mentioned by the previous winners.

I really like Caroline she’s come out of her shell so much. I suspected as a pp has said that we see what the producers want us to see. I don’t mind who wins.

I was really disappointed that they didn't show any of the coastal train journey from Mumbai to Panji. It's meant to be one of the great routes to take instead we see wine tasting for 10 minutes. I am biased as I'm travelling there later this year so really wanted to see more. Also nothing much about Mumbai, no Bollywood (which could have been great fun), Dhobi Ghat, Dharavi etc. I was so looking forward to this episode.

Caroline is really getting on my tits. Catch a grip woman. All this “I’m free” martyr stuff.

Good editing reveal that the brothers were last! I’d like anyone but Tom and Caroline to win.

I woke up today thinking about how annoyed I get with Tom when he says “littul”.

I didn't watch this week's until last night and I'd guessed the ending because of a spoiler Scott Mills dropped on Radio 2 yesterday morning. He said 'no spoilers' but the comments he made about a shock at the end and never knowing what names are in that book until they open it made it very obvious! So that was a bit disappointing.

Another that finds Caroline totally disingenuous so really hoping they don't win but wouldn't mind any of the others winning. Love the brothers but suspect they've put themselves too far behind now. I'm expecting Caroline and Tom to win. Not least because they've got a habit of just getting taxis when in a rush and I think they've got the most money left so wouldn't be surprised to see several taxis on the last leg.

We always get hooked to this show every year. I always come around to the contestants and their stories.

I actually really like Caroline, I can tell how competitive she is and I hope I have her energy at 60. The person she self describes is not how she presents though, I don't think we're hearing her whole story. Hope they win though.

I will be very pissed off if they do.

I’ve never really cared who wins but I really don’t want Caroline too!! I think the sisters or the young couple would make the most of the money

i haven’t enjoyed this series as much as they miss out big lumps of travel and they focus more on some than others.

I think the other weird thing about Caroline and Tom is that they don’t mention her husband at all

the way she goes on about having no freedom and not making decisions implies he’s abusive tbh

I have great sympathy with her if he is but it very much feels like she’s playing a game

Mmm I don't get the impression that her husband made her do anything.

I think she wanted to do it. Maybe there is an element of losing confidence and whatnot from it all. You can choose the lifestyle but at the same time it can affect you can't it.

And yes then there'll be some editing as well

this is such an negative thread, so very anti caroline, and no i dont have favourites, i didnt for the first one either, only last year i was nervous for the lads

I'm not really anti Caroline. I don't think I've commented about her negatively

I don't love her but I don't have anything against her either

New to this thread and I really don't understand the Caroline hate.

I wasn't aware that she did eventing, but so what? The programme is edited to focus on her being a 'housewife'.

My biggest issue with this series is the focus on the personal and not on the journey

and the impact of that is find them annoying rather than endearing because we’ve had Caroline go on and on and the sisters as well

the only one that they haven’t wrung dry is Fin - he has such a sad but inspiring back story but he mentioned it almost in passing! He’s matured and shown good strength of character. So for that alone I’m hoping he wins!!

I also suspect the brothers had their relationship closure last episode because they aren’t in the running and they will focus more on the other 3

And since it's been reported she's been travelling after this she just might have!😉

I wanted the brothers to win but that now seems unlikely. Never keen on the sisters or Caroline so I'll be hoping Sioned and Finn win.

Caroline is a similar age to me and I found it a bit odd that she was leaning out of a train window and shouting "Whee" and whooping like she'd never done anything remotely exciting in her life - maybe she hasn't.

Oh crumbs! The dislike for Caroline on this thread is unreal. For anyone who doesn't know how reality TV works, the post by @bashual yesterday at 18.15 describes it perfectly.

The vast majority of comments on this thread are cross/angry/disappointed at the imbalance between travel and racing, and personal back stories in this series. Therefore people must realise that something different is happening in the production and editing? Earlier I linked an article about the new series producer who is quite open about wanting the "personal journey" aspect to dominate.

It gives an inauthentic feel to the whole show, along with the drip feeding (Tom's CP) and silly, tricksy editing like the brothers coming last this week. It is dumbed down in a major way.

I loved what we saw of southern India in this episode, the safari looked incredible, and Indian wine - who knew?

I agree it’s the balance. I don’t really watch it for the personal journeys tbh

and whilst it might be the editing - the Caroline they are presenting is not a version I warm to

i know a lot of women trapped by circumstance and I don’t think she actually realises how lucky she is
