What an odd and sick couple. I was too young when all this happened but the amount of missed opportunities to stop them! Fred tried to keep Fred out of it didn't he but she got rid of him It seems. Shame he killed himself he should have had to live with what he did.

For me it was the sheer sexual abandon of the pair... no limits, children, making their own adult content to sell to fellow perverts etc.
Fred was keen to allow Rose to carry out prostitution work, proudly advertising her charms in perverted publications with the tag line.

Fred made sure Rose did become pregnant by her clients, but so that he'd remain the 'father figure' of the house, he made it impossible to tell by which client - he collected the sperm of more than one client from condoms and mixed it together to inseminate Rose.

Rose seemed to get a thrill from telling people when the children she was expecting weren't Fred's and particularly when their biracial heritage made this very obvious after they were born. I think they both 'got off' on outraging people - proudly bearing children that weren't her husband's would be considered strange in any era, but even more so in the 1970s/80s than now.

Yep I’ve read quite a few of the serial killer books including the moors murders and Harold shipman but the one that really grossed me out was these two vile creatures. I’ve also read the James bulger book which is from his dads side of things and baby p the James bulger one made me sob and the baby p one was in my mind for days after. Another one that really fucked with my head was dahmer I couldn’t sleep for a week because it was constantly on my mind and I actually had nightmares from it!

I’ve read some details of the case and that was enough. These two monsters did what they did for two decades - why didn’t social services get involved and do something?
