Anyone else watching? As always my jaw is on the floor. The first couple - he is a prolific cheat, she is ten years younger and seems quite upset by the previous infidelity yet here they are…at a glorified orgy. Why?!

Omg this series! I came searching for a thread to discuss this.

What I love most about this programme is assessing the dynamics of relationships. My feeling is that one partner is usually bullied into this, consciously or not.

The first couple - I liked that the older guy, the 40 year old acknowledging his 30 year old partners people pleasing ways. I saw that as some glimmer of hope maybe. His admission to a wandering eye just killed me. I could never accept that ever. Even if I accept that a man would be inclined to appreciate a beautiful woman. I still would not be ok with the absolute disrespect of this in my face. This relationship felt terribly imbalanced. She didn't want to do this ffs. Many of them don't. It kills me watching it.

Then my next observation - ffs, you have kids?! And these kids have their parents bloody shagging on TV. Any part of your brain thinks what the implications might be for your kids? Anywhere? Stop it now.

Then my next observation - fuck me I wish I was young,healthy and confident and not in my current position as I'd probably love to try an experience with a lady. And I'd probably love an experience with a man and a few ladies.

I was finding it incredibly difficult to watch the overweight guy pumping away. I felt he has an incredibly supportive and erm ' giving' partner and was quite a lucky fellow it seemed.

The reason I was uncomfortable was because his lack of confidence, some lack of awareness somewhat was quite unattractive. I wondered how much his female participant actually wanted sex with him when compared to the apparent confidence and ease of sexual prowess her husband appeared to have. So this made me cringe terribly. And think why are you having sex with him?

The sexual experience fed the ego of the larger guy who then has his twinkle sucked off in the shower by his wife/ official partner afterwards. And I thought, fuck me. Why.

I noticed how the editors took the absolute piss with one couple. The lady referred to her husband as good looking and a catch or something and they purposely then shot to him sat there looking like a gormless Roland Rat. And I thought, this is harsh and pretty cruel tbh. They have a child and that child will have to deal with this and the mockery enabled by producers. What a mess.

I'm enjoying it though so I'm enabling all this crap 🙋

I keep watching this show, no idea why as I find it disturbing in a way. The residents are in a certain mindset of how they are putting themselves out and if you note a lot older than these naive couples that don't know what they want. They need a reality check, too young to know their own minds. Young kids at home..start being parents, and stop thinking of your own selfish fantasies that could potentially spoil everything!!

First Dates is back tonight and now yes it's spreading, will feature an open marriage trawling looking for a hookup romance

Oh my god is anyone watching First Dates? Emily, one of the residents and the one who did a lesbian triangle in episode 1 or 2 is on it!!!!

And she was on the show to basically have a first date with a couple with a view to opening up. What shite.

I think as much as anything this sheds light on the same cast of "ordinary people" that TV shows use, who are neatly all signed up with talent agencies

Does anyone know where Open House is filmed? I assume UK so therefore most of the time when they’re lounging by or in the pool they’re actually freezing their tits off?

Are Open House participants more than they seem? Sex workers, escorts, onlyfans...like so much tv it's what we called 'cooked'. They are not just everyday people. Enhanced reality.

Of course they are. It's a fine line as channel 4 can't literally trawl adultwork for professionals to pay but the majority of them are paid professionals in some capacity or other. There is one couple on there though who I've seen in other swinging documentaries who I think are genuine swingers and exhibitionists. The pool of actual swingers who want to go on TV and be filmed doing it must be pretty small.

Also they obviously direct the residents who to have sex with for maximum entertainment/drama. The roid rage looking guy who hated his wife being chatted up by other men got rejected and the overweight guy with erectile dysfunction had a bunch of women falling all over themselves to pleasure him. I'm very sure they don't make them have sex with someone they really don't want to but the pairings are directed and scripted.

I'm sorry if this has already been discussed but to me it doesn't look like the men wear condoms does it?

the couple where she wanted to experiment with a woman and basically forgot all about him went against everything the agreed absolutely went for it the deal was the woman would start off then involve him .they never bothered he was there like a spare part they completely ignored him and cracked on

the guy would wanted to try being bisexual let’s just say he took to it like a duck to water I don’t think it was his first rodeo

the uncomfortable one of 2 gay guys would wanted to try straight sex one of them was borderline repulsed when he was with a woman and clearly not happy

the guy who was overweight and struggled to get it up literally never saw his wife for dust after the arrived and basically said we shag other people or it’s over

the guy who think he was on the spectrum socially it was really awkward

the couple who kept getting rejected she was crying that nobody want to shag them

I can imagine watching after 'The Couple Next Door' the applicants will go through the roof..It seems to me, Open Sex through experimentation is seen as the norm these days. Many couples esp younger ones reckon they have to give it a go..no one brings up the word 'feelings' in the future or how damaging it may be. The chap in the bath having a 'normal'. chat with one of the residents, eh? It all boils down to matters of the heart. Anyone heard the phrase familiarity breeds contempt. Think about it!
