I couldn't find a thread on this. Anyone else watching? I'm on episode 3 and really enjoying it but I feel like the trailer maybe gave some things away that you wouldn't have picked up on until a few episodes in.

I'm near the end of episode 2. I thought it was better than a lot of the C5 crap, although I'm not sure the police actions are entirely plausible and Ambika Mod is annoying, but I guess that's partly the point. Annoyingly I have no facility to watch it on my TV so can't watch with DH . I also started Good American Family and this is so much better!

And actually appears to be filmed not in Hungary or Ireland!

I just finished Good American Family before I started this one yesterday!

I don't want to spoil for anyone who hasn't seen it but can't decide what I think about the ending!

it seems dubbed to me but it I’m assuming it isn’t?

diddl · 17/04/2025 20:20

Just started watching it & it's annoying me straightaway!

My first thoughts are that Rebecca is a jilted ex!

Or her & the husband are having an affair & ill meet up some where.

Dont know where the son comes into that scenario though😆

Mumofteenandtween · 17/04/2025 20:26

I haven’t watched it but I have read the book it is based on. Trying to decide whether to watch it or whether it will just irritate me because they have it all wrong!

Where is it set? (The book is set in Norway.)

Eldermillennialmum · 17/04/2025 20:47

@Playmobil4Eva I don't believe so!

@Mumofteenandtween they are a family in England

OP posts:
Piggywaspushed · 17/04/2025 20:49

Ah,I fid wonder if the book wasn't English, what with the surname Blix and the writer's name.

TimeForABreak4 · 17/04/2025 23:13

I'm on episode 4, how can Rebecca keep going these little escapades on her own.

I thought exactly the same. Who is looking after the 9 year old girls? Is she just leaving them to fend for themselves?

Eldermillennialmum · 18/04/2025 07:46

I thought the name Blix was odd too but I'd forgotten it was based on a book despite having it saved in my Amazon cart! Think the book is called The Play Date. Makes sense it's not English.

I'm thinking of getting another book from the same author as not sure I want to read this one now I know the story but they're all a similar sort of genre.

I’ve read most of them. They are pretty good. I’m starting to really like the fact that they are mainly set in Norway too - I generally find it difficult to get into books set in other countries to start with - is the comment about 500 Kroner for a latte expensive or cheap? How long does it take to get from Oslo to Lillehammer? I am a detail person and I like to have my facts straight. 😂 But now I know these things it is all very interesting.

Makes sense! Any you'd recommend starting with?

I've watched it all whilst off work ill. Hadn't realised it was based on a book but it did have that feel about it - like the free listens on Audible.

Lots of actors that I like but given some dodgy lines and direction, I thought. Went downhill after a promising first episode.

Piggywaspushed · 18/04/2025 17:38

I did the journey from Lillehammer to Oslo this summer! So I can reliably say about 2 hours.

milleniumstar · 18/04/2025 18:14

Ambika Mod is annoying,

I find her so annoying

I liked “The boy at the door”. “Girlfriends” is also quite good although based mainly in Spain with a bit of London and a touch of Norway.

I've just finished watching this today, marooned on the sofa with a knee injury.
I liked it, even though there were some clunky plot points.
I thought the ending was a bit of an anticlimax.

BobnLen · 19/04/2025 08:27

I have finished it, it's very similar to channel 5 dramas, big houses and a few plot holes, ending a bit meh. I enjoyed it though

Energe · 19/04/2025 08:41

Watched the first episode. That’s me done. Was v disappointing as I love both the main actresses but far too rubbish to waste more time on it.

westisbest1982 · 19/04/2025 08:45

I wish I hadn’t stuck with it. The ending was unsatisfying and I just didn’t feel drawn into the parents’ ordeal (which felt strangely muted). Ambika Mod was also a bit shit, just like she was in One Day, so her scenes were distracting.

Eldermillennialmum · 19/04/2025 08:55

I agree the ending was a anticlimax but when I thought about it after it kind of made sense

OP posts:
PolitePoster · 19/04/2025 13:26

I agree about the 'little jaunts' Rebecca kept making. Where were the girls?
She was supposedly home schooling, so did she just lock them in the house and go?
Daft things like this take me out of the drama.
