New series starting next week - really looking forward to it. The teams are travelling in Asia, but I can't find information about the couples yet. Wednesday nights sorted!

I like Sioned! I think she’s just introverted/possibly neurodiverse with sensory sensitivities? She’s been doing amazingly well for someone with her age and background in this situation I think. I think the same thing about Letitia being introverted/possibly neurodiverse (and although I like her sister too I think she really just doesn’t understand Letitia’s personality at all). As someone else said the show does seem to paint a very negative picture of introverted personalities.

But the brothers are now my favourite as Yin and Gaz have gone 😭

Edited

Totally agree re. potential neurodivergence in both of those instances.

Ellephanting · 22/05/2025 06:29

Being an introvert doesn’t mean you’re neurodivergent. I personally don’t think either of them are neurodivergent.

CaptainMyCaptain · 22/05/2025 07:28

I still don't take to Tom and his mum (can't even remember her name although I have just woken up). Unless it turns out they were living in a cult I don't know why she's done nothing which she keeps saying even if it's not true. I'm liking the sisters less and the brothers more. I have a lot of empathy for Sioned, we didn't see how they spent the night stuck in that awful place, and I would probably have given up at that point. If they come last she will have 'won' by just surviving it.

Samcro · 22/05/2025 07:42

I felt for Sioned, it was so busy and noisy. I think they needed the quietness that meant they were last. I like the brothers best, all though I am warming to Tom and his Mum. Her back story seems a bit odd though.
I can't take to the 2 sisters. the younger one always seems to be sulking.

The lobbies of these hotels are always empty, aren't they!!!

The production team will have arranged that, they can’t have random other people wandering around in the shots or going to ask the reception something just as the contestants arrive :)

TwentyKittens · 22/05/2025 07:54

QuackADoodleDoooo · 21/05/2025 23:29

Like others I'm so fed up of the back stories. I just don't care! They seem to drag them out and take up so much of the valuable airtime. Show us the race, the places, the food, the culture etc.

I'm sure if someone compared the amount of backstory in Series 1 with the amount we get now it would be waaaaay less.

It's passed the point of being interesting and has become really tedious. I liked when they discussed the job opportunities more, choosing from a selection. That bit has disappeared in favour of more naval gazing.

I think it's very unfair on introverts to say Letitia is being so non interactive because she is one. In their application she would have been interviewed about various aspects, and the expectation is that contestants open up about themselves and their relationships.

I wonder if they were chosen as a foil to Yin - a British Chinese woman who couldn't speak Mandarin compared to a British black woman who could. Now they've left China her and Elizabeth's relationship seems to have deteriorated, although that could be the editing.

I'm finding the non mention of Caroline's eventing hobby very strange. Yes, I understand about her loss of confidence being a sahm but she has been entering competitions with her horse, so isn't totally lacking in confidence.

Most people have hobbies but it does take some element of bravery, confidence, determination, and so on to start entering competitions.

You're surely not saying that the entrance is staged, and it's not the actual arrival we see when they come through the door!!!

Totally agree. I'm not ND and I'm a massive extrovert (also with the need for solitude from to time) but I was absolutely with Sioned last night and could feel my own stress levels rising just watching it. Hong Kong is about my limit for chaos.

I was quite shocked at what Fin had previously said about it being a test to see if he wanted to be with her but, my goodness, he was so mature and caring with her last night, I was mightily impressed. So many men would have (wrongly) lost patience with her.

NewAgeNewMe · 22/05/2025 08:09

As I said upthread, we see what the producers want us to see. They’ll have gone for the SAHM route for some reason rather than the eventing route which personally I’d have found more interesting!

CharlotteStreetW1 · 22/05/2025 08:16

And I completely agree about the back stories. We said this as far back as Series 2. We did wonder if our infertility could have counted and it turned out in the Canadian series that yes, it could. Not that we've ever really talked about it because I don't think anyone else is interested.

The producers need to revisit Series 1 and/or read this thread!

I would have found it really interesting if they'd covered both! Trad sahm, does a bit of small scale eventing as a hobby, but finds that even though she enjoys it, and has won competitions, it's very much still in her comfort zone, and there's still something missing in her life that she hopes to find with the show.

And I think the programme shows us really well how much she's changed from taking a back seat at the very start, to taking charge and getting on with it all now.

CrushingOnRubies · 22/05/2025 09:16

Don’t mind the back stories to a certain extent but it’s the drip feeding I don’t like

fin and Thomas grew on me a bit last night. Still want the brothers to win though.

im still not that keen on going to India far to hectic for me. But I do want to see the Taj Mahal and go to Simla and the peaceful bits.

purser25 · 22/05/2025 09:58

I am fraud I don’t warm to Tom and his Mum and I don’t know why can’t put a finger on it. I like the brothers though being referred to as the oldies is a bit much as I am a bit older than them. Looks like one of them is unwell in the next episode. All I can say is that all the contestants in all the series mush have stomachs of iron none of them ever seem to have an upset stomach.

the80sweregreat · 22/05/2025 10:51

Sioned putting her hand over her ears was sad and clearly she was having so much sensory overload.
I can’t say I blame her at it seems all so chaotic , but the sisters to seem a bit more resilient in that respect.
They all have a lot of issues this series , it is amazing how much of how we are is around what happens to us as children / upbringing and so on.

LindorDoubleChoc · 22/05/2025 10:56

DH, who isn't watching it as closely as me and is often working in the same room while I've got it on, said last night "Bloody hell it's so repetitive! We've heard all about the brothers' horrible mother and boarding school, the sisters having weird problems that no one can quite put their finger on, and Caroline's lack of fulfilment in every episode since episode 2!"

And he's quite right. It's too much and it's actually getting dull now.

I agree with a pp and thought Fin was absolutely fantastic with Sioned in India. They are only 19 and 20! They are doing so well and that pointless trip to the airport might well have finished me off. But they didn't quit, good on them.

If I never see another contestant picking up huge amounts of animal poo with their hands, that will be fine with me thanks @RATW producers!

the80sweregreat · 22/05/2025 11:08

Piecing together the sister’s story , I am of the impression that after the parents lost their family home one was then sent to Italy for 7 years , but she must have come back for visits or whatever?..
They also have three other siblings.
There seems to be a lot of ‘ unsaid ‘ things too, but maybe I’m missing something with them ?
Sad that the brothers were hit as children :(
Sadly, that is too common amongst people I’ve met and it really does affect them all their lives :(
So sad.

But she herself said in last night's episode that she hadn't worked and hadn't done anything other than looking after family (one of whom was at boarding school). Why is she saying this?

So sad.

A lot seems to centre around 'losing the family home' so maybe they were all split up.

LindorDoubleChoc · 22/05/2025 11:34

Yes, but isn't it tedious that we have to "piece anything together" at all? Just stop with the drip-feeding and trying to add a layer of drama!

I've been re-watching series 1 because I don't think I finished it first time around. Everyone sits down in front of the camera and talks about their dynamic in episode 1 and it's then it's sort of out of the way. They also do a much better job of explaining who is where in relation to each other on the map.

NottsNora · 22/05/2025 11:43

I’ve spent 6 months in India and the noise, smells and general chaos can be very overwhelming, particularly if you are tired and stressed. I felt so sorry for the poor kids, especially over the incident with the tuktuk driver. They are so young and they’ve done so well. India is a very testing country - beautiful, with amazing people and experiences, but challenging, especially if you aren’t sure what you’re doing.

TessTickle0 · 22/05/2025 12:12

Agree with everything that's been said.
The sisters and their 'story's are boring me, not their fault but still..
Thought finn was very caring and mature with her, hope we get to see how they got out of there..so much is just skipped over and it annoys me.

jay55 · 22/05/2025 12:36

A bit of background on the couples is fine. But there is enough drama in a missed bus, not enough cash for lunch, and clearly the sheer overwhelm of India that they really don’t need to repeat their stories over and over.
i bet they’re all watching it dead annoyed with the edit that they’re not showing the funny moments, or the minor dramas that stayed with them for days or the crazy meal they had for next to nothing.

ChompandaGrazia · 22/05/2025 12:39

I really felt for Sioned. All that noise and chaos is manageable on its own but when you have just been ripped off, dumped somewhere random, don’t know where you are going to sleep that night, possibly hungry and need the loo it’s enough to send anyone over the edge.

the80sweregreat · 22/05/2025 12:58

This show is so good normally , but this one is lacking something and they are going to amazing places too!
I love how they edit the endings though , I can never guess who is first.
Poor Sioned and her boyfriend are so far behind now ., Do they eliminate next week again , or is it all of them till the end ?
