New series starting next week - really looking forward to it. The teams are travelling in Asia, but I can't find information about the couples yet. Wednesday nights sorted!

Boo. It’s so unfair they were eliminated because they were so far behind due to the storm stopping all public transport last week. Surely that was unusual circumstances, not just them making bad transport decisions or running out of money etc. I demand an enquiry. Grin

Sadly I think even if they'd been "allowed" an extra 24 hrs they still wouldn't have got anywhere near.

Such a shame. They were so likeable.

HelenHywater · 07/05/2025 22:19

I quite like Caroline, she does seem like a lovely mum. They are the complete opposite to me and my family, but still, she just wants the best for her son.

I'm pretty sure I saw Yin a few days ago in London!

Cardinalita90 · 07/05/2025 22:24

Caroline is growing on me, Tom not so much. Gutted for Yin and Gaz, but thrilled for the brothers.

Can't wait to see India next week! So far hardly any have earned money to replenish funds - although granted homestays save accommodation costs - but will be interesting to see when budget considerations start to come to the fore.

So he went to boarding school, got kicked out and didn’t even do GCSEs?!

I missed that. I heard he didn't have a job or any idea what to do.

boatyardblues · 07/05/2025 22:29

Labourer @CaptainMyCaptain

hattie43 · 07/05/2025 22:34

I was hoping Thomas got kicked off he’s such a feeble wet lettuce . His mum is over analysing everything about herself . I find them irritating.

jumpintheline · 07/05/2025 22:35

Ahhhhh no!! Yin and Gaz were my faves! 😪

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 07/05/2025 22:40

Who else thinks Gaz is still totally in love with Yin?

I only really like the brothers.

Thomas gives me irrational rage every time he’s on screen. Somehow I just knew his parents would still be ‘mummy and daddy’

The young couple are very sweet but his hair and bum fluff bother me.

One of the sisters voices annoys me. And why would you go sightseeing when you’ve a deadline to stick to?

I shouldn’t watch this, it makes me too stubby

BassesAreBest · 07/05/2025 22:41

Oh, 100%. I feel quite sad for him actually, as it’s obvious she’s moved on.

Doingmybest12 · 07/05/2025 22:47

I think they are all likeable and don't understand such strong negative feelings about Thomas. I enjoyed the leg tonight.

I assumed ‘mummy and daddy’ too. Always is with posh people.

All that he had and he wasted it smoking weed. Not even any GCSEs. He said he worked labouring.

CaptainMyCaptain · 07/05/2025 22:27

I missed that. I heard he didn't have a job or any idea what to do.

Turned into a stoner before he even did his GCSEs and got expelled. Such a waste! At least he is working and I know a lot of people who prefer a physical job rather than an office one.

QuackADoodleDoooo · 07/05/2025 23:11

So gutted about Yin and Gaz. I really thought by some miracle they'd make it

LindorDoubleChoc · 08/05/2025 03:27

I've always said private education was a waste of money! Round my way you'd barely get a tap on the back of the hand for smoking weed at school 🤣.

What I've gathered from these episodes is that China has spent a lot of money and effort on creating tourist areas - including Shangri-La - and that these are predominantly where the BBC has been allowed to film this year. Some of the countryside is breathtakingly beautiful.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 08/05/2025 04:53

my own dc were pretty excellent at losing things when travellling, mobile on day 1 of interrailing, passport another time. bank cards.
tom is young, and of course with his mum, so no wonder he is having a little wobble
hated the elimination but somehow less unhappy with who was eliminated, i t hink i heard the sound of their beep going off, must have told them they had been eliminated!
Gaz was always so positive so i am sure they can take positivity with them

BlondiePortz · 08/05/2025 05:09

I am not sure if it me showing my age but with the 2 sisters it takes them a while to say one word, it feels like a put on thing is it something the younger generation does as in if they say 'New York' it would be 'Neeewww Yorrrrrrk' I think I remember it from other tv but it is really annoying

the80sweregreat · 08/05/2025 07:05

Gutted for Gaz and Yin too :(
I wanted Tom to find the money belt, mostly because Dh and I have had many incidents with lost things in the past and it’s so worrying! You’d have thought he would have learnt his lessons from before , but clearly not.

PuppyMonkey · 08/05/2025 07:17

DD and I have started sort of an enjoyable hate watch thing with Tom so I’m okay with him staying in the show now. Bingo points for any time he says “naaarvous” in his deep posh voice. Grin

LittleGreenDuck · 08/05/2025 07:21

I wonder if the eliminated couple get to keep the rest of the money.

I really hope Toms bucks his ideas up. He came over as a giant whinging toddler last night. Yes, he's young but the Welsh couple are younger and they're doing a cracking job. They don't have Mummy to hold their hands, either!

MrsLargeEmbodied · 08/05/2025 07:23

i think the fact that he is with his mum gives Tom freedom to be more whingy than he might otherwise!

CaptainMyCaptain · 08/05/2025 07:25

boatyardblues · 07/05/2025 22:29

Labourer @CaptainMyCaptain

Yes, at the moment, but he said he still hadn't found out what he really wanted to do - or words to that effect.

LittleGreenDuck · 08/05/2025 07:26

MrsLargeEmbodied · 08/05/2025 07:23

Yes, maybe. Like when you go back to your parents for Christmas and revert back to being a teenager. Or is that just me...?

Doingmybest12 · 08/05/2025 07:27

Tom is only 21. It sounds like he's got issues about self belief and confidence. He's making his own way labouring as a job while in a family of presumably high achievers. There's always someone who loses something and I'd have been gutted too if it was me (again). It's a light weight competition ,entertainment show, why are there such strong feelings about the competitors.

CaptainMyCaptain · 08/05/2025 07:28

LindorDoubleChoc · 08/05/2025 03:27

Changing the name of the city to Shangri-la to help tourism made me laugh. Let's call Manchester Fairyland to help tourism 🤣.

hopeishere · 08/05/2025 07:33

It was a good episode! Gaz and Yin just had too much time to make up. I like the brothers a very interesting backstory there re one going to boarding school and the other not.

Tom struggles a lot with minor setbacks. The sisters were pretty resourceful getting the money changed.
