New series starting next week - really looking forward to it. The teams are travelling in Asia, but I can't find information about the couples yet. Wednesday nights sorted!

Dare I say it, but I’m finding the very competent sisters a tad boring. Early days I suppose but they just seem to get places without any issues or arguments, where’s the fun in that? Grin

Team Brian and Melvin FTW.

I agree about the sisters. Each time they appear I find myself really wanting them to fail to make things a bit more interesting.

Love Brian and Melvin, would love to see them win.

TessTickle0 · 01/05/2025 09:17

I don't really like that they eliminate a couple in the next leg.
It could be any of them I feel (except the sisters) and would be a shame.
Most likely tom and his mum

It's the usual pattern though.

hopeishere · 01/05/2025 12:16

I agree it will be the mum and Tom out. I suspect a massive backstory is coming with the sisters.

I wondered why they'd been separated for such a long time but might have missed something.

Breathmiller · 01/05/2025 13:39

I got the impression the girls lived apart purely because of their age difference? One leaving home to travel (Italy perhaps?) while the younger one was still at home.

I have big age gaps between my children and the youngest and oldest have never lived together. Albeit the oldest didn't move away so they grew up with them nearby(ish).

Breathmiller · 01/05/2025 13:45

I like the divorced couple, I think its warming to see them so supportive of each other. The brothers are great fun and love seeing them enjoying this trip together. DH hasn't warmed to the sisters but I don't mind them the same.

It must be hard to know you could be eliminated next time. I do think the mother and son (sorry I am terrible at names) will be the ones to go. Surely they are so far behind now. Although, it does seem a bit unfair that they could just throw money at getting there quickly and stay in. I do think they will be gutted.

The scenery is out of this world and as always with this programme makes me want to jump on a plane and explore the world.

I am looking forward to the Nepal leg of the journey as I have trekked the Himalayas in Nepal and been to Kathmandu. Lovely people.

RaraRachael · 01/05/2025 13:48

We don't seem to have seen much of how the sisters plan their journeys etc. I haven't really warmed to them tbh

My favourites are the brothers. They're hilarious 😂

the80sweregreat · 01/05/2025 13:55

There is seven years age gap between the sisters and the eldest lived in Italy for a number of years.
I like them both tbh. They are acing it so far, but so are the young Welsh couple and they are not as ‘ worldly wise ‘ as the two siblings are. They need to be more confident as they have done well so far.

BassesAreBest · 01/05/2025 13:55

I’d like them to be the ones to go, but aren’t they currently in 4th place - Yin and Gaz are still stuck on the ferry IIRC while the mother & son are at least on the island,

the80sweregreat · 01/05/2025 14:03

It must be so hard being held up by the weather:(

Ah! Are they? I had thought they were also stuck on the mainland. Maybe not then.

Breathmiller · 01/05/2025 14:18

Yes, I think the young Welsh couple are doing better than they think. I think its a mammoth leap for them to do this and admire them a lot. Its surely easier to have the confidence to travel if you have grown up travelling and having seen different countries.

TwentyKittens · 01/05/2025 14:21

I think there was a clue about Yin and Gaz when they were doing the noodles job. He was outside doing his people stuff, she was doing the physical stuff inside. That seemed to cause a little friction when she said he hadn't been working as hard as her, and he replied that he'd been getting the punters in.

When you think about them operating a takeaway, I wonder if this isn't an unfamiliar dynamic.

TwentyKittens · 01/05/2025 14:24

I still think Caroline and Tom are the least interesting couple. I don't really see anything more to them yet. They both seem wishy washy and a bit dull.

Love the brothers and sisters.

Treeleaf11 · 01/05/2025 14:27

Caroline and Tom had just got onto the island, Yin and Gaz are still on the mainland. They could end up being quite a long way behind.

Ah okay, yes, Yin and Gaz could have a long wait and be last by a lot then. That would be a shame if they are last next time and eliminated.

I probably am invested least in Tom and Caroline. I do hope they, Caroline in particular, don't get too downhearted if they are out and she can see that this is a catalyst to doing more adventurous things in her life.

PuppyMonkey · 01/05/2025 16:51

I don’t think it will be very fair if anyone is penalised because public transport stopped due to a storm. Particularly when it’s a ferry that stops, so they couldn’t just hitchhike or find another solution. What if the ferries stop for 3 days so they’d be 3 days behind?

hopeishere · 01/05/2025 18:31

I would assume they will have a “freeze” so once the typhoon weather hits the clock stops and then starts again once it’s over.

ChompandaGrazia · 01/05/2025 22:08

Does anyone else think the sisters look nothing alike?

I was thinking that too. I can't see any resemblance. Not that I think that Tom looks like Caroline either.

853ax · 01/05/2025 23:24

I actually like most of them had hoped they would not do elimination this series.
The brothers are great really like their attitude. Think the young Welsh couple are great too, nice to see such a young couple trying something so different to anything they have done before.
Feel Tom & his mother haven't got going right yet they do seem to be bit unlucky would like her to get bit longer out of it.
I'm not as keen on the sisters, feel it could be the way they shown everything working out too easy for them. Guess knowledge of China and language has been big advantage.
As always I'd like if it was all shown but slower get more details into each episode. They covered such huge parts China this evening could have made two episodes

SwedishEdith · 01/05/2025 23:40

I hate that a team get eliminated. It's often before you've really got to know them.

I agree. I guess the problem is that if a team are days behind then they stand little chance of catching up. Also it adds ‘excitement’.

JohnKettleyIsAWeathermanAndSoIsMichaelFish · 01/05/2025 23:56

I don't want Yin and Gaz to be eliminated. I hope they make allowances for the weather.
