Hello all
I couldn't see another thread but it looks like this starts on Thursday 10th April.

What will be the themes this year? Banquettets aplenty? Grumpy contestants coming on to the thread to tell us off for not being kind? Hideous colour combinations?

Who know what joys await us!

Sneak peek for this week here… think we’ve found the cartoon fireplace culprit… tbf genius idea using the front door to avoid delivery anxiety providing the kennel staff can actually see onto the room to check the dog…

I think Craig might be placing himself in the running to be the winner here, because this is very different to his usual style. Plus he’s obviously done his research about what colour dogs can see (they see in shades of yellow and blue).

BBC One - Interior Design Masters with Alan Carr, Series 6, Episode 4, "It's so bold, it's so brash, I love it!"

Alan gets more than he bargained role playing a postie testing out Craig’s letterbox.

i like his room so far! These are definitely spaces they can have fun with and half the design the dogs won’t care about but it’s nice for human visitors

Chrysanthemum5 · 30/04/2025 12:20

Ah interesting @Netaporter I do like the little advance views

It’s all about the colour drench this year isn’t it.

I agree about budget and they should be allowed to rent or borrow furniture, are they allowed to name retailers on the BBC that would give them some clout to get stuff to use for the exposure. (I know probably not)

I think the judging is too all over the show and hypocritical, retired mermaid - huge no (also there was shite) 80’s lingerie designer with a silly name - what fun.
I thought Holly seemed very flat this week and wondered if she hadn’t hit it off with Ayisha who I think might have been a bit intimidating.

Also Michelle reminds me of a ballet teacher or something the sort that can make you feel like a teeny tiny scrap of nothing in a heartbeat maybe she triggers me but I think I’d cry getting negative feedback from her.

saveforthat · 30/04/2025 19:01

I'm sure in the older series they used residential spaces that people were actually living in. Do they not do flats etc any more?

Bruisername · 30/04/2025 19:03

I guess the retirement homes were just flats. I don’t think they do people’s homes - it’s normally new builds let them do something

I'm sure there will be more as it progresses

Chrysanthemum5 · 01/05/2025 07:01

The series information on the website says something about transforming retail spaces so I think they've decided it's easier to use those rather than homes.

Haven't they always done a range of different things like shops, cafés, beach huts etc?

Chrysanthemum5 · 01/05/2025 07:21

In the original version of the programme they all did people's homes and they had to work with the home owner as a client. So not just being given free rein to do what they liked - I know there are some examples now where the shop owner has to approve the brief but a lot of the time they are allowed to do their own thing

More scope for unhappiness with a home owner having their place ruined by hideous choices...

I think last year they did a barbershop/hair salon? I thought that was a fun episode, and I liked the redesigns (though one of the designers put the waiting area chairs in the middle of the space, which would have been so awkward for the people getting their hair cut!).

FagsMagsandBags · 01/05/2025 07:55

I think that right before the end of the original/superior competition, they did do a shop because I seem to recall a couple of really happy people who loved the outcome. I might be im

BestIsWest · 01/05/2025 08:03

I think it was last year that they did some cafes local to me. I was in one of them this week. I’ll have to have a rewatch to see if they’ve changed much but I don’t think they have.
