CLASSIC CORRIE THREAD. Now in June 2006.

Well here we are, a new thread a full year (almost) after the last one. Almost 2 years have passed (in Classic Corrie) since the start of the last thread (we were at September 2004, and it's now June 2006.)

So we have Keith still in it, about to be booted out of his house, after trying to get one over on Charlie Stubbs, who bought the house Keith is living in and gave him notice to move out. (And Keith and Audrey are finished now.)

Steve's girlfriend Ronnie appears to trying to set Steve up for the hit and run that she did in a Streetcars taxi.

Lloyd - Steve's new Streetcars partner has been dating Kelly Crabtree, who has recently been set up for a theft she didn't do by street newcomer Becky. In a drunken stupor, Kelly slept with Steve!

Janice is back (much to Cilla's disgust!)

Leanne and Danny have just got engaged. (Though Danny clearly is still in love with his ex wife Frankie...) Frankie has gone off to Spain leaving Nathan (her new fella) moping around without her. Les adopting Chesney has recently been approved.

Dev's 'long lost' daughter Amber has just moved in with him in his flat. And Dev is making the house he bought for him and Sunita, nice, in the hope that she will return soon with the baby twins (Asha and Aadi.)

Poor Ashley is fighting in court to keep his own son, after the 'bio father' (Matt) turned up trying to make a claim on him FOUR years after his birth, and after FOUR years of having nothing to do with him, (he wants him now because his new wife can't have children!) Ashley's wife Claire is quite heavily pregnant.

Sean has just recently met his dad, who was very cold and had a very unwelcoming wife when he went to see him. His dad came to Coronation Street shortly after to see Sean, but bottled out very quickly and drove off before Sean could see him. Sean prays he comes back.

We still have Blanche in it, being her nosey intrusive self, and also the equally nosey and intrusive Norris. Rita got caught in Norris's wardrobe recently after he had brought a woman home who he'd met in a lonely hearts club. That only lasted 5 minutes though after Norris decided he is better off alone!

Not much going on with the Barlows at the moment, apart from Tracey using everyone she can to look after Amy so she doesn't have to! And Gail is resuming normality as much as possible, after discovering that her son David was the one sending greetings cards signed 'Richard Hillman' for the past few months. David's punishment is to work at Audrey's salon. (Must be how he started working with hair!'

Sarah and Jason are due to be married, and Sarah is super excited about it. Jason, not so much. Sally and Kevin finally accepted the relationship with their daughter Rosie and her boyfriend Craig (the goth.) After many MANY months of resistance, and Rosie becoming a goth too. Rosie and Craig have recently de-gothed themselves though!

Oh, and we recently lost long-standing character Mike Baldwin who died of a massive heart attack. (April 2006.) Sad

I'm sure I've missed bits out, but I think these are the main bits for now. Grin

Let's see where it's all at when this thread finishes!

I've said it before, but I honestly see the arrival of the Connors as marking the start of the decline of Corrie.

CherryogDog · 07/10/2025 12:18

I agree @thenightsky
Michelle's screeching was what made me stop watching for ages.
Claire's stropping and shouting is annoying me at the moment. I'm obviously having a sympathy bypass!

FlibbertyGibbitt · 07/10/2025 16:20

Is there only one episode today ?

thenightsky · 07/10/2025 17:52

My box only recorded one.

SabreIsMyFave · 07/10/2025 20:53

Yeah, Michelle is getting on my wick too. I know she has lost a brother, and a husband, but poor Steve can't do right for doing wrong! Claire is annoying too. I have zero sympathy for both of them right now!!!

Yes I think there was only one episode on today.

OP posts:
CherryogDog · 07/10/2025 23:19

Only one episode because Classic Emmerdale had one half and one full hour episodes.

JewelleryCat · 09/10/2025 14:44

Why is everyone being horrible to Hayley, especially Sally? Is she jealous?

thenightsky · 09/10/2025 18:22

Sally wanted to be left in charge I think.

JewelleryCat · 09/10/2025 18:41

Well tough! Liam chose Hayley

x2boys · 10/10/2025 09:26

Valendros ,restaurant seems ridiculously cheap at only £40,000 even 18 years ago!

eggandonion · 10/10/2025 10:49

Leanne is in a bit of a financial pickle...luckily normal banking and financial rules don't apply.

JewelleryCat · 13/10/2025 15:31

I feel so sorry for Hayley. Why can’t they see that she is just trying her best when Paul has just died and Liam has left her and everyone in the lurch? They should be helping her and not being like they are

HurdyGurdy19 · 13/10/2025 19:21

I'm glad Carla has pitched up at the factory. Hopefully she'll soon bring the rebel workers back into line - presumably there will be a few fired, then re-hired, as Employment Law doesn't appear to apply to businesses on The Street

thenightsky · 13/10/2025 19:35

Only one episode again today or did my box go wrong?

FlibbertyGibbitt · 13/10/2025 20:07

Yes only one today. ☹️

HurdyGurdy19 · 13/10/2025 23:46

Yes, Emmerdale had a half hour episode, followed by an hour long non-wedding episode

x2boys · 17/10/2025 07:43

Where's Leanne getting all her money from to fund the restaurant?
She had to scrabble together £40,000 to buy it ( which I still maintain was ludicrously cheap)
How is she paying wages and suppliers etc?

thecatdidit · 17/10/2025 07:54

@x2boys it's preposterous, the amount of money spent on all that free food and drink would run into the thousands I'd have thought. 100 covers were mentioned..a free glass of cheap wine should have been on offer not all the other stuff.
Plus all those balloons and decor would have been a tidy sum.

Not to mention 4000 leaflets!

SabreIsMyFave · 23/10/2025 10:10

I completely agree about how £40,000 seemed too cheap for a restaurant in 2007, and yes, where did Leanne get the £30,000 from?? (The other £10,000 came from Janice's bloke - Roger is it?) And I also agree that her giving so much away - including all the booze, and free food - was incredibly stupid. I had a relative once who owned a business, and they NEVER gave anything way. Even family only got 5% off! No business owner would do this IME and IMO.

I do NOT remember Roger at all, or Eileen's bloke - Pat. Eileen is very brazen flaunting herself in front of everyone when she's shagging a married man. How can she be proud of that?

Claire is still getting on my nerves a bit, and Casey is acting like she wants to replace Claire! Shock Why on EARTH did Ashley trust Casey to pick up Josh, after everything that's happened, and his wife (Claire) saying she thinks Casey set fire to their house?!

Carla conning Leanne into thinking she was going to give her £20,000 towards the restaurant was quite funny!

OP posts:
PenguinIce · 23/10/2025 10:44

I thought the £40,000 was for the lease of the restaurant so Leanne does not own the building. Might be remembering wrong though.

thecatdidit · 23/10/2025 12:42

@SabreIsMyFave I said to my DH, who would you tell about where you were going to feel safe? I know..the very person who you suspected set fire to your house. And why does Ashley trust Casey?
And why did Casey keep Josh out longer when collecting him from school..you know the original reason Claire went mad was when you stayed out longer with Freddie .
It's bloody ridiculous.

SabreIsMyFave · 23/10/2025 21:39

@thecatdidit 100% agree with everything you say! Batshit that Ashley is letting Casey in the house, looking after Josh, and now kissing her. WTAF?! The woman gives me the heebie jeebies! 😬

I know ,Clur irritates me a bit normally but I'm feeling sorry for her now Ashley's no faith in her and is letting Casey take over
Like you would let.a women you barley know look after your young child ?
Mind you Clur is also letting Casey take over hopefully this storyline concludes quite quickly
What's going on with baby Freddie ?
Why does he keep needing to wear a hat ?

SabreIsMyFave · 23/10/2025 22:24

Agree with you too @x2boys So odd that Ashley is letting Casey take over - as you say, basically a stranger... And I don't know why Freddie is wearing a hat a lot. Maybe he has cradle cap, and his head is very sore? These current episodes are meant to be the end of July 2007, so they would have been filmed in early to mid June I think, so it can't be that it's cold. I feel a bit for Clur now too.
