The new six-part season will focus on three murder mysteries, with Samantha Bond, Jo Martin (https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/marlow-murder-club-jo-martin-season-2-chance-newsupdate/), Cara Horgan and Natalie Dew all back in their roles.

on wed 8&9pm for 3weeks

Meanwhile, Thorogood, who has adapted the show from his own best-selling novels, is joined by new writers Lucia Haynes and Julia Gilbert for this season, who have crafted new stories for the later episodes.

The second season of The Marlow Murder Club will see author Robert Thorogood join forces with writers Lucia Haynes (Annika, Vera) and Julia Gilbert (Midsomer Murders, Ridley) on writing duties for the new episodes.

Haynes and Gilbert will each pen a murder mystery that spans two episodes, meaning that there will be three main cases in the new season.

The first two episodes of season 2 will be an adaptation of Thorogood's second novel, Death Comes to Marlow, but the other episodes in the season will be brand new stories.

The official synopsis for season 2 reads: "Life in the idyllic town of Marlow has just about returned to normal after the triple murder that rocked the community.

"But it’s not long before retired archaeologist Judith Potts (Samantha Bond), Vicar’s wife, Becks Starling (Cara Horgan), and dog-walker, Suzie Harris (Jo Martin) are called back into action, when a series of new unsettling crimes befall the local residents.

"From a seemingly impossible murder inside the locked study of a sweeping mansion

to the mysterious case of a man murdered in the middle of a sleepy cul-de-sac with no connection to the town

and an unexpectedly brutal accident at the prestigious Marlow sailing club that quickly reveals itself to be something more sinister, there’s no rest for our sleuthing trio.

"Navigating the delicate balance of Marlow society – from local aristocracy to the workers at the local boatyard, the pubs and cafes of the high street to a newly established archaeological dig – Judith, Becks and Suzie dig into all corners of Marlow life as they assist DCI Tanika Malik (Natalie Dew) in her official investigations."

As for who will be returning for a second instalment of The Marlow Murder Club, all the leading ladies will be back for more crime-solving action.

Samantha Bond, Jo Martin and Cara Horgan will all reprise their roles as Judith, Suzie and Becks, while Natalie Dew will also return as DCI Tanika Malik.

Meanwhile, a number of other stars including Phill Langhorne and Holli Dempsey are also expected to be back, and a whole new group of guest stars are also joining the show (https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/marlow-murder-club-season-2-cast-newsupdate/), including Nina Sosanya, Samantha Womack, Hugh Quarshie and Patrick Robinson.

Enjoyed the episodes though a tad far fetched

It’s actually a village ?

Smallish town. On the Thames, west of London.

RafaistheKingofClay · 28/03/2025 00:11

It’s a small town. It’s where the author of the books lives so he set them there.

Clawdy · 28/03/2025 08:09

Last night's wasn't as good as last week's, but still enjoyable. Marlow looks so nice.

Oops wrong thread.

Not sure what was more silly

book case falling via a burnt wire or stabbing someone in daylight and no one seeing

E5&6 tonight

Agreed last two were dull, with perpetrator obvious.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/04/2025 12:54

I don’t even know who killed him. I gave up

Just listened to one on audible too (Marlow Belle). Highly implausible how the 3 stomp about interviewing suspects in an ongoing murder case to the point I wouldn’t bother again. Programme is ok to watch while ironing, mainly to see a nice English town in summer, if you have nothing better to watch.

RafaistheKingofClay · 04/04/2025 18:39

Completely forgot about it. Is the consensus I shouldn’t bother?

RafaistheKingofClay · 04/04/2025 18:41

Very much like Thursday Murder Club, Father Brown, Sister Boniface you have to ignore the implausibility of total randomers solving crimes.

Davros · 04/04/2025 18:59

It’s part of the cosy crime genre which I like. But I did find Judith Potts quite irritating by the end

1&2 and 3&4 ok

So it’s all ended now? No more episodes next week?

CurlewKate · 06/04/2025 16:55

I haven’t seen the series, but I tried one of the books. I hope he gives Richard Osman most of his royalties….

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 06/04/2025 16:59

I was just thinking the other day that Robert Thorogood really has won the lottery of life. He came up with the idea for Death in Paradise and presumably has a substantial income from that, even though he doesn't write for it much now, if at all. He came up with the idea for the spin off, Beyond Paradise (ditto). Not sure how much input he had to the Australian variant, Return to Paradise, but he gets a prominent credit in the opening titles, so presumably there's more dosh coming in from that. He's written these books, which have done quite well as books, I believe, and now he's got another income stream from the TV adaptation. I don't grudge him. He's just hit on a winning formula and in the process given me a lot of brainless viewing pleasure.

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/04/2025 17:23

Yes finished

It’s a town. I live in Marlow. It’s very safe and we have no murders. I really need to watch it but not sure how gripping it is…

Didn't realise the Annika series coming up is a repeat of Series 2? That's a disappointment, was looking forward to a new series!

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 07/04/2025 08:22

I never got into Annika. Maybe I should try again.
