Just watched latest episode and was gripped throughout! Cal was a great President, Sinatra is a snake and I immediately thought that recording was a fake. Out of all the people who could have survived and made contact what are the odds Xavier's wife was one of them?
Looking forward to the finale but like others have said there's bound to be a cliffhanger!

Yes, Atlanta had a direct hit so we too assumed she was dead.
BUT...that EMP thing was getting towards Atlanta so maybe it stopped the bomb at the last moment? And then all mobiles etc would also go dead?
It was a really gripping episode!!!

gettingolderbutcooler · 01/03/2025 12:45

But I also have to confess that I fan girl over the actor who plays Xavier ever since This Is Us.
Totes a hottie.

FridayNight1975 · 01/03/2025 16:37

does anyone understand where people ‘outside’ are recording these messages?

i think the 4 that went on the expedition left some recording devices behind, but i think some of the messages sounded from outside of Colorado (i think one si them at least said ‘we’re heading to Colorado’, so what type of device would they be speaking into?

i don’t get it…

Figgygal · 01/03/2025 16:46

This weeks episode was peak tv
Looking forward to next week's

The premise is total guff but been enjoying it

drwitch · 01/03/2025 18:10

I don't care that Xavier is basically Randall with a different job. he is just so beautiful and he makes the rather silly plot believable
So thoughts on the killer?

I just hope they reveal the killer and don't cliffhanger to reveal in 3 years time, or cancel the series altogether. My money is on the psychologist. But I also guessed that there hadn't really been an event and Sinatra made up to have a safe bubble, so I don't have good form for guessing so far.

FridayNight1975 · 02/03/2025 09:23

apparently the killer will be revealed on the next episode

many people think it’s the barman

he has the motive (wife dead), means (president might have called and asked for more alcohol), and someone pointed out he’s left handed (killer apparently was left handed )

I wouldn't worry about it too much, given we're going with the fact that they flew how ever many planes inside a mountain where they've managed to recreate outside society, housing, feeding, educating, entertaining and clothing themselves and with a sophisticated communications system that replicates day and night.

Just looked, a jumbo jet transports 400-500 people. Paradise is supposed to have 25,000 residents with all their possessions, furniture etc. and a functioning infrastructure. I think I've only ever heard them refer to 'the plane' 😂

JellyBeanFactory · 02/03/2025 14:58

I think there were a few planes fitted around the country. Xavier's wife was heading for one at an air force base, there was mention of 'those from California' and one went down from the shock wave.

Agree with PP, that's not Xavier's wife on the recording. Sinatra always seems to be holding all the cards though.

Best series I've watched for a long time. Not been so tense since the last episode of season 1 of homeland.

I'd hidden these threads as I was going to watch eps 7 & 8 together but couldn't wait and had to watch 7 last night! Now waiting tensely for the last one on Tuesday (although DH is out Tues and he'd not forgive me if I watched it without him, so may have to wait until Weds!).

I think it's his dad.

JellyBeanFactory · 02/03/2025 14:59

I do too @readingmakesmehappy or his son.

Ah of course @JellyBeanFactory still, 50 planes with pilots able to safely navigate into the interior of a mountain and to carry enough stuff. How many would it have taken with all the building materials and supplies? So I stopped thinking about logistics and time frames.

I have no idea who murdered Cal. Would his father kill his own son? Although I do think Sinatra and Jane are probably distractions. My real interest is whether there'll be any kind of redemption for Sinatra who went from grieving mother to full Bond super villain.

FridayNight1975 · 02/03/2025 18:01

@martinisforeveryone 😂 fair enough!

readingmakesmehappy · 02/03/2025 20:55

@martinisforeveryone Cal's father has dementia and is not always with it. Aggressive behaviour is often a feature of dementia, so I think they had an argument and his father lashed out.

EconomyClassRockstar · 03/03/2025 00:09

I read a review that said Cal was a terrible president. Are you kidding me?! I wish we had him here now!

We just watched Episode 7 and I was literally yelling at the tv, "KILL HER!!! KILLLLL HER!!!". And I'm so anti gun and pro life (ie actual living people not unborn babies) in person. 😂It is a great show.

RedHelenB · 03/03/2025 07:25

Love to have Cal as president now. Xavier is a hypocritical wet wipe. He promised to save someone's child too and then made no real attempt to but blamed Cal for his wife not getting to safety from Atlanta. Hope tried twice and he did have other very important things on his mind.I
Have enjoyed this series, not my usual cup of tea but James Marseden persuaded me to give it a go and I've suspended my disbelief and got sucked in. The presidents death has something to do with his Dad I'm sure.

Zombella · 04/03/2025 09:54

Fantastic finale. Gripping and moving too. I watched it at 9am as I couldn't wait any longer 😂

Nowmum43 · 04/03/2025 13:08

I watched it on my phone whilst walking around getting kids ready for school and me for work 😂
Brilliant ending, feel like everything was tied up so no ridiculous cliffhanger and a brilliant ending to start season 2

ruralwanderer · 04/03/2025 16:15

I'm so excited to watch this tonight, I'm not going to check this thread again until late so I don't accidentally see anything that could spoil the ending 😁

Ferryweather · 04/03/2025 17:44

Great finale but not enough Cal Bradford for me. There will never be a president that good looking

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 04/03/2025 18:45

This may well be the TV Show Of The Year for me and it's only March. I wish it was better known

mollycassie · 04/03/2025 19:02

That was outstanding! Been avoiding this thread all day in case of spoilers. It's rare a new show I hadn't even heard of is this good - I think the last one was For All Mankind. Loved it. Like that it would have worked as a standalone season with no massive cliffhanger but they have a whole new arc now for a great season 2.

martinisforeveryone · 04/03/2025 20:36

Fantastic and well set up for series two without leaving us on a really annoying cliffhanger. Thoroughly enjoyed and recommend this.

Greentableleg · 04/03/2025 20:57

Have really enjoyed this series but probably got to wait ages now for the next one!

readingmakesmehappy · 04/03/2025 21:24

I didn't love jt as a conclusion, sorry,
For a whodunnit to work I think the audience needs to have a decent chance of working out the culprit. We didn't have enough information to be able to make the connections this time.
And Xavier heading off by himself? I don't buy that. They've got to know that Jeremy has been telling people that there are survivors, there will be more people wanting to know what happened to their loved ones, so put together a proper mission with a team to see what happened.
Jane is unhinged.
