What the title said.

This year's crop of wankers are up in 15. Any takers?

Liam's look reminds me of the 80's group Modern Romance.

I hope Max saved he seems one of the few that has his head screwed on

I must be watching a different programme, Max came across as a nasty bully to me. The way he treated Carlo was awful. Speaking about him with frank disdain and saying he needed to keep an eye on him. The man is at least 10 years older than Max and runs a successful business.

Ten quid that was written down for him and took more than one take...

💯 He can't get through the sentence "Can you send the candidates in" without at least three "um"'s. And he says that every week.

I totally agree with this. I mean Carlo didn’t help himself because he comes across as so abrasive and probably someone I’d cross the road to avoid. But Max has Posh Boy privilege so he got away with also being abrasive and was poking the bear big time. I love that Surralan said his scapegoat has left. I reckon next week he will be shit again.

Also Max is a pipsqueak who looks about 6 stone wet through. If he said to me “I’m getting really wound up now” I don’t think I could help but laugh in his face as say “And? What you gonna do when you’re full wound?”

TBF Surralan is almost an octogenarian!

My FIL’s claim to fame is he bought a TV aerial out the back of a van from Suralan once and he still has his business card he gave him (I guess hoarding absolute shite for five decades does pay off)

LBFseBrom · 15/02/2025 02:52

No funny characters so far this year, could do with that.

I think Carlo was frustrated. He was told he wasn't doing enough in the digital popstar task so offered to be team lead or sub lead (and to be fair that "pop star" nan character was appalling, he was right to say something.) Then Max, who was niggling at him last week too, won at being PM and wouldn't let Carlo be sub team lead because he "wanted to keep an eye on him". They gave him the shittiest job, writing down the names of the places they themselves were looking up. He was physically and socially isolated within that team, deliberately, and given only the lowest value item to bid on. And he was right, they could have got more money off the horse shoes if they had built rapport and talked about the horse.
Two of the sub team spoke up in his defence when Max laid in to him in the board room, to say he never got a chance. Nadia and the boat hook guy. That's quite unusual.

It's a long time since I have seen such obvious, coordinated isolation of a contestant, and that was on Max. On his "bio" he even says he looks forward to 'locking horns with' other players 'to see who comes out on top'. Man is a smiling bully and I hope he gets his comeuppance soon.

FreddoSwaggins · 15/02/2025 09:18

What was Max getting away on Posh Boy privilege? I don't think he spoke in an anymore abrasive than other contestants do. They all tend to point out others faults in the very standard practice of getting any criticism off themseles as they dont want to be fired. (Plus doesn't "posh boy privilege" only work in environments where there's an old boys culture or when people kowtow to certain accents because they lack confidence in thier own status - which i dont know you could say there competators do!)

The problem with Carlos was he was very fond on critising after the event in the "i knew.." and "i thought." sense, but not actually speaking up or doing anything at the relevant time. That's not contributing effectively, as he seemed to think.

Yes posh boy privilege🤔

FreddoSwaggins · 15/02/2025 09:38

Speaking of posh boys, who else thinks Max and one other man - possibly two other men - all look very similar and at the same time resemble Jack Whitehall?

JandamiHash · 15/02/2025 10:16

Yes posh boy privilege - needling and picking at Carlo, if anyone else not as posh had done it they’d be considered a bully (I’m surprised people are shocked that posh people have privilege).

I think Max looks and sounds like the bloke who plays Prince William in The Windsors

This is a really interesting point. I may watch it again actually so see if this frames things differently

Omg that's EXACTLY what I said tonight before my d looked at this thread (spoilers innit)!

By the way I'm glad carlo has gone - over the past few weeks I really don't think he's come across well at all.

suburburban · 15/02/2025 20:04

Best years of our lives

FagsMagsandBags · 15/02/2025 22:33

Carlo was right about rapport but unfortunately his idea of rapport is to look someone in the face with dead shark eyes, speak far too quickly and aggressively, coming out with utter gobshite like "how good will you feel if you do something good for someone else ... blah, blah, blah." that is the opposite of rapport. That is like being eyed up by either a robot or a psychopathic serial killer who is going to wear parts of your downstairs as earrings once he's cut you up.

In short, Carlo is a scary mofo.

MrsPeterHarris · 16/02/2025 10:48

That's absolutely the best description @FagsMagsandBags Grin

Exactly my feelings about him. I found him angry and intimidating. I certainly wouldn't want to work with him!

GoldVermillion · 16/02/2025 12:43

Well I guess I would be pissed off too, if I was a successful Northern business person of colour in my late 30s who was being told by a person almost 10 years younger who is Southern, white and posh that I needed "keeping an eye on". Arrogant little man.

Even Alan Sugar said Max had done nothing but 'slag off' Carlo in the boardroom.

MrsPeterHarris · 16/02/2025 13:31

Carlo was a liability though @GoldVermillion - nothing to do with age or colour, just an absolute liability all round!

Carlo is Italian isn't he? Isn't he classed as a white European?

GoldVermillion · 16/02/2025 13:38

He is half Italian, quarter Indian, quarter English.

MrsPeterHarris · 16/02/2025 13:39

Watching Carlo throughout the series, I actually felt quite worried for him as he seems completely on another planet & not attuned to what is going on around him. He genuinely worried me.

Not sure the description 'person of colour' is particularly accurate then. Just sounds like a veiled way of insinuating that people were being racist when they weren't?

I felt the same tbh. I was ready to dislike him intensely on You're Fired but he seemed not quite all there. I'm not sure how he got through the audition process.

NeelyOHara1 · 16/02/2025 18:18

Re Modern Romance, I used to quite like 'Queen of the Rapping Scene', lol. Bring back the wedge haircut!
