The call the midwife christmas special is on bbc 1 in 2 parts. The first part will be shown on christmas day at 20:00. The second part will be shown at 19:30 on boxing day. Series 14 will start on 5th January. I am suprised that it has not been renamed as the doctor Turner show.

"How the Turners saved Christmas" parts 1 and 2😂

witchycat2 · 22/12/2024 16:34

I'm not a fan of programmes being split into two like this, it will inevitably mean a cliffhanger on Xmas day. But CTM is always a key part of Christmas for me.

Vitriolinsanity · 22/12/2024 19:37

I'm away for Christmas Day but have Boxing Day cleared to binge watch G&S and Call The Turners Grin

Snowmenschilliballs · 23/12/2024 22:28

I'm going to watch it on iPlayer incase it becomes a "The Turners save London" episode. What public health crisis are we up to? 60s/70s? Winter of discontent maybe?

Pieceofpurplesky · 23/12/2024 22:38

I love the Turners though - the perfect 2.4 (ish between them) children of suburbia. So wholesome and innocent. I love the programme and hope Nancy gets a happy ending!

Beautifulsunflowers · 24/12/2024 08:08

I think it's the 70's which is when I was born so watching with interest.

WaterWall22 · 25/12/2024 20:07

@Snowmenschilliballs Nasty flu at the end of 1960s

Toddlerteaplease · 25/12/2024 20:21

Missed the first few minutes. What's wrong with Karen? I predict that Teddy is either going to die of flu or a post adenoid bleed.

WaterWall22 · 25/12/2024 20:29

@Toddlerteaplease a hole in her heart

Toddlerteaplease · 25/12/2024 20:31

Ah. Can't help
Thinking how times change..we kick kids who've had their adenoids out in a couple of hours now. And if you've had a tonsillectomy, soft diet is discouraged. Crisps and crunchy food is advised.

ThewrathofBethDutton · 25/12/2024 20:34

I’ve had to turn it off.
It’s like a very poor, badly acted local play.
Just awful, so bad I can’t watch any more.

Toddlerteaplease · 25/12/2024 20:36

It's not great, I must admit. Sr MJ is too lucid.

WaterWall22 · 25/12/2024 20:38

@ThewrathofBethDutton I agree, it seems particularly poor this year.
@Toddlerteaplease yes things really have changed, adenoids even rarely taken out now..

Toddlerteaplease · 25/12/2024 20:40

For goodness sake take the baby off her

Snowmenschilliballs · 25/12/2024 20:41

I'm a bit behind and just got to the dead body that I assume is the lady who has just given births birth mother. I agree it's like a school play.

BerriesCones · 25/12/2024 20:44

Nurse Nancy looked like she had bright blue contact lenses in when she was talking to the tranquiliser salesman

Toddlerteaplease · 25/12/2024 20:44

It's rubbish!

Snowmenschilliballs · 25/12/2024 20:44

It's like a travelling group of actors are delivering a play to a school about social history. It's awful

KohlaParasaurus · 25/12/2024 20:46

Getting all the clichés in. (I don't care, I'm enjoying it.)

Snowmenschilliballs · 25/12/2024 20:47

Oh is dead woman the mother of one of the escaped convicts?

Toddlerteaplease · 25/12/2024 20:53

The baby has got kernicterus from untreated jaundice.

KohlaParasaurus · 25/12/2024 20:54

Toddlerteaplease · 25/12/2024 20:53

The baby has got kernicterus from untreated jaundice.

Agree.

witchycat2 · 25/12/2024 21:01

Is Trixie still with her husband? I thought she left for New York?

Soubriquet · 25/12/2024 21:11

Last year, I purchased a one month tv licence to watch it. This year I haven’t bothered. It’s not as good as it used to be and it’s ALL ABOUT THE BLOODY PERFECT TURNERS!!!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 25/12/2024 21:12

I can't remember much about the previous series and I find I don't care. It just washes over me like a warm bath. Possibly more a tepid bath these days.

We were rather hoping Dr Turner would be taken hostage by the convict, but that seems unlikely now.
