I've seen bits of the United Cup mostly involving the Italians who seem to be loving life.

Italy really are taking over the tennis world at the moment, and I love it.

Djok was complaining the other day , apparently, about the fact he is being kept in the dark about what is going on about Sinner's doping charges. I don't know why he thinks he needs to know specifically, or why he doesn't think it has been dealt with, but he needs to butt out, frankly. Naturally, Dick got involved as well.

Oh I saw him prattling on about "clean" sport. Nobody mention the magic potion! I wish Holger would stay away from him because practicing with him seems to be a jinx.

Yes, he's a total hypocrite. Hopefully, this is his last year.

I haven't watched any tennis at all but was pleased to have avoided Kyrgios - is he still deluded that he can still win a Grand Slam?

I need to get my head around the United Cup as seeing Italian players having fun sounds like a good thing! I think I saw some of them in a swimming pool and they looked as if they were having a good time

I am not doing anything for NYE- was my birthday yesterday, and Ds's the day before, so we went to the pub for a meal last night (ds was a bit delicate after the night before). DD1 is working today- but finishing about 5ish.

There are always loads of fireworks around here, because of all the hotels around. But the weather is set to be awful, and a lot of things have been cancelled. If I do make it to midnight,I'll be very surprised .

My dog got his umpteenth reindeer for Christmas. I am getting confused by the names (they are all tennis themed). I think the latest is Casper. He buries them all.

I read that book earlier this year and enjoyed it Jane. It’s a really interesting insight into what it’s really like trying to make a living on the tour.

kazza I am not going out if I can help it- every where around here is very wet, and the city centre got a bit flooded (fireworks apparently went ahead though last night). The field we usually take the dog is a swamp .

DD1 was planning on going into the centre today, for uni (library open, oddly) until she remembered it was a)NYD, and b) the buses aren't really running properly (and a lot of the routes have been affected by the weather).

I was very sorry to see Dick and Djok lost the doubles, how very unfortunate.

Djok lost to Opelka.

Hurrah! I saw some of Opelka v Arnaldi. Matteo looked tiny in comparison and a bit stressed. Still he only lost on tiebreaks!

Even though the big serving get boring after a while, (and he plays GMP next, so moreof the same), I don't care so long as Djok loses .

Grigor is still hanging in there- which is good to see.
