Whoop. Finally it is here. I love these paradise programmes

BBC and its upcoming Death in Paradise (www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/death-in-paradise-season-14-release-date-bbc/) spin-off
Return to Paradise, which will whisk viewers away to the sunny shores of Australia.

The story follows DI Mackenzie Clarke (played by Anna Samson), who returns to her small Aussie hometown after years working in London for the Metropolitan Police for the last 6yrs after she fled the town after dumping fiancé Glenn at the alter (heartless woman lol)

She gets a less-than-warm welcome from those she alienated when she moved away, but a murder case that leaves the community stumped could be her pathway to redemption.

Her story will partly revolve around former love Glenn Strong (played by Tai Hara), who she abruptly left behind years ago, breaking his heart – can their relationship be salvaged when she returns?

She also left london under a cloud of suspicion

DI Clarke will be partnered up with Detective Colin Cartwright, played by British actor Lloyd Griffith (Ted Lasso (www.radiotimes.com/tv/comedy/ted-lasso-season-4-release-date/)), who appears to bring some comic relief, keeping the show firmly on
the quirky side – just like preceding entries in the Paradise family.

The supporting cast also includes Aaron L McGrath and Celia Ireland as Constable Felix Wilkinson and Reggie Rocco respectively, inhabitants of the idyllic, fictional town of Dolphin Cove.

It seems that Return to Paradise won't be skimping on the 'Paradise' element, with most of these images showcasing the stunning beaches and glorious weather of its Australian locale.

This is the second spin off from death in paradise

The first being beyond paradise with Humphrey in Devon

I hope this will be as good as love an easy watching murder and for an hour - 2hrs tax my brain 😂

Is that Sadie Rodwell from Neighbours?

Swashbuckled · 29/11/2024 20:10

@LIZS

Aw, I didn't watch Neighbours... can't help 🤔

LIZS · 29/11/2024 20:29

Think I was wrong. Was there not a rl fraud similar to this plot , a miracle cure of an influencer in Aus?

LIZS · 29/11/2024 20:30

Why is the ds a Brit or is he not supposed to be?

Swashbuckled · 29/11/2024 20:32

You're right!

Just googled. Belle Gibson. Australian influencer who lied about having cancer. Said she cured it through healthy eating...

I thought he was supposed to be British. Wondered if the producers felt they needed a Brit in it so the Brits would watch... No idea though.

Swashbuckled · 29/11/2024 20:34

@Blondeshavemorefun

Missed that. I have popped into the kitchen a couple of times for chocolate and wine though.

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/11/2024 20:35

Who is he

OP posts:
Swashbuckled · 29/11/2024 20:36

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/11/2024 20:49

I do love the flashbacks solving the murders

Binge watched the whole series - loved it. More death in paradise than beyond paradise with the weekly murder followed by the cheery theme choon.
Loved nostalgically playing spot the Aussie actor - neighbours/home and/prisoner cell block etc
Hope it gets picked up for 2nd series.

LIZS · 29/11/2024 22:55

Will need to catch up as got interrupted halfway!

It used to be fun looking at Neighbours/Sons and Daughters/The Sullivans/Home and Away/A Country Practice/Young Doctors/Prisoner Cell Block H to spot the same actors popping up.

Fireworknight · 30/11/2024 13:05

I’m really enjoying it. It’s more like Death in Paradise, with the quirks, sunshine etc and, I think because it’s not based in the UK, we can accept the poetic licences with the storylines etc

RaraRachael · 30/11/2024 13:09

I watched the first episode but thought it was a bit lame and didn't warm to the lead character so not sure if I'll bother with any more.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/11/2024 15:23

It's easy watching on a Friday night

Ah yes. Apologies, I missed the post where you'd worked it out 🤦‍♀️
I saw the guy who was married to Heather was in last night's episode as well. It was indeed a fabulous series.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/11/2024 19:12
