Whoop. Finally it is here. I love these paradise programmes

BBC and its upcoming Death in Paradise (www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/death-in-paradise-season-14-release-date-bbc/) spin-off
Return to Paradise, which will whisk viewers away to the sunny shores of Australia.

The story follows DI Mackenzie Clarke (played by Anna Samson), who returns to her small Aussie hometown after years working in London for the Metropolitan Police for the last 6yrs after she fled the town after dumping fiancé Glenn at the alter (heartless woman lol)

She gets a less-than-warm welcome from those she alienated when she moved away, but a murder case that leaves the community stumped could be her pathway to redemption.

Her story will partly revolve around former love Glenn Strong (played by Tai Hara), who she abruptly left behind years ago, breaking his heart – can their relationship be salvaged when she returns?

She also left london under a cloud of suspicion

DI Clarke will be partnered up with Detective Colin Cartwright, played by British actor Lloyd Griffith (Ted Lasso (www.radiotimes.com/tv/comedy/ted-lasso-season-4-release-date/)), who appears to bring some comic relief, keeping the show firmly on
the quirky side – just like preceding entries in the Paradise family.

The supporting cast also includes Aaron L McGrath and Celia Ireland as Constable Felix Wilkinson and Reggie Rocco respectively, inhabitants of the idyllic, fictional town of Dolphin Cove.

It seems that Return to Paradise won't be skimping on the 'Paradise' element, with most of these images showcasing the stunning beaches and glorious weather of its Australian locale.

This is the second spin off from death in paradise

The first being beyond paradise with Humphrey in Devon

I hope this will be as good as love an easy watching murder and for an hour - 2hrs tax my brain 😂

I enjoyed that more than Beyond Paradise. I think Beyond Paradise had to many comic/quirky characters, whist this Australian one was more like Death in Paradise.

longtompot · 22/11/2024 21:01

Well, I really enjoyed that! Wasn't expecting to after seeing the trailer, felt very Home and Away from that, but it was a good mix of Beyond Paradise and Death in Paradise. Loved how they introduced her, didn't feel contrived at all.
Looking forward to next weeks episode

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/11/2024 21:02

I liked this as well

I reckon the swimming pool is the Bondi Icebergs club.
Wondering if they have copyrighted the running and chasing style - exact same as in Death in Paradise - cops confront suspect who stops, pausing, deep breath and shoulders back and they're off! Cue close up of arm movements running then a tight corner, sprint and a take down. Enjoyed the comedy running through the washing.

Swashbuckled · 22/11/2024 21:14

Enjoyed it, just what we need as winter approaches! Not very likeable lead character but maybe I'll warm to her.

Fifiesta · 23/11/2024 13:38

I thought it was a fun watch, funny and unintentionally funny in parts.
Easy cosy evening watch while we hunker down for the British winter…

diddl · 23/11/2024 20:21

Just started to watch.

Why didn't she ask whoever she was on the phone to to send a taxi?

When she showed her Met badge-how does she have jurisdiction?

purpleme12 · 23/11/2024 20:57

Is it like Beyond Paradise?

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/11/2024 21:21

She doesn't @diddl She was meant to give her badge in London but jumped on a plane

@purpleme12 yes similar. Someone dies and she works out how

Did anyone else think the main character had a bit of Dr Who about her, in the frantic movements and the staring. A mixture of David Tennant and Matt Smith?

I think they intended it to be funny!

purpleme12 · 23/11/2024 23:25

I loved it!

I'm going to introduce my child to the next one!

diddl · 24/11/2024 12:23

I found her very annoying.

Not personable at all.

Maybe that's her "quirk"?

Swashbuckled · 24/11/2024 17:37

I loved her waistcoats; might drag mine out of the loft....🤔

BillStickersIsInnocent · 24/11/2024 20:26

I read her as autistic.

Really enjoyable, fab scenery, funny, great stuff.

I'll probably watch it tomorrow.
See if my child likes it

Swashbuckled · 29/11/2024 19:55

@Blondeshavemorefun

I can't imagine Mac having much time for a wellness influencer.... could be fun.
