SCD 2024: The One With All the Videos 🪩

Here’s a thread for all the videos we want to share during SCD 2024. Use it to post your favourite past performances or just any dance videos you want to share.

We use this thread so that a) the videos don’t get lost and b) so that we don’t make the discussion threads run slow for those on the app.

I’ll start off with my traditional shares!

1. Shirley Ballas and Michael Chapman - a beautiful basic rumba demo that shows perfectly that anyone can be sexy, regardless of their size.

2 - a gorgeous Salsa, danced exactly the way it was intended - not the showy cabaret stuff you see on SCD:

3 Lovely waltz demo, not the one I used to share but I can no longer find that one on YouTube 😢

Look at the way they use their head weight and the swing and sway of the movement.

4 Quite possibly the hottest AT I’ve ever seen, and danced to one of my favourite pieces of Tango music <sighs>

And finally, in honour of the passing of Sergio Mendes a few weeks ago, we can’t leave this out.

I love number 1 with Shirley and Michael Chapman as the first time I saw it I didn’t know he was a dancer, I thought he was a random bloke who just happened to be there. That unexpected talent together with his dad bod (is it ok to call him that?) made me swoon 😍.

I was the same @MeAgainAndAgain - made me realise just how sexy being 'big' can be when you can move like that & have that kind of swagger!

@MrsPeterHarris yes exactly! And similarly, I’m single so for me dating is the same, it’s the zing and the eyes and the laughter, not the good looks!

Hamza was bigger and did NOT look like he had potential, and look how he ended up!

Dwight is 6ft 10 (basketball)
Daniella is 5ft 3!

She's won with another basketball player though (Iman Shumpert) He was 6ft 5! Her choreo was amazing.

That contemporary dance was phenomenal!

Video of Giovanni dancing the samba with Bianca Guaccero on Ballando Con Le Stelle, the Italian version of Strictly. He got top marks, I think.

I know I’m probably not meant to say this without some sort of disclaimer but actually I just really miss Giovanni. He was my favourite pro in terms of choreography and I really loved to watch him dance.

So do I @TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross. He was my fave pro along with Katya. The rest this year with a few honourable exceptions are so bland- and in the case of Neil, cringe- or possibly too new to do much.

Btw, just discovered that Nikita's sister Anastasia Kuzmina is a pro on Ballando!

I can easily believe that Giovanni wasn't that pleasant a bloke but, in terms of dancing and choreography, I really rated him as a pro. He never did twee, unless a really twee theme was forced on him (bloody Lion King). He and Debbie McGee will forever be my favourite ever partnership.
