GRACE s4 - SUN ITV 9pm - TV PACE NO SPOILERS

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/08/2024 20:22

Grace season 4 will begin on Sunday, September 1 at 8 pm on ITV1, with the remaining three episodes scheduled to follow on subsequent Sundays. The series will not be box-setted.

The fourth season is available in the US on BritBox, after premiering on July 2, 2024.

Based on the bestselling novels by Peter James, the crime show follows the exploits of DS Roy Grace, who has been haunted for over a decade by the disappearance of his wife Sandy.

In recent years he's found happiness with forensic pathologist Cleo Morey (Zoe Tapper), but will that happiness last?

That's one of the many questions we hope will be answered in the fourth series of this detective drama, which is filmed in Brighton and the surrounding areas.

With Grace's girlfriend Cleo Morey discovering she's pregnant and his estranged wife Sandy seemingly trying to prove that he's also the father of her child, it's fair to say the detective could have his hands full in the fourth series!

E1 The first film in the new series is called 'Dead Man’s Time'. A vicious robbery at a secluded Brighton home, draws Grace and Branson into a puzzling enquiry when thousands of pounds worth of beautiful antiques are stolen from the house.

As Grace digs deeper into this mysterious crime, he unearths a web of ancient grudges - a web which leads him down a dark, murderous trail through the world of Brighton antiques, in a race against the clock, to untangle who is at the heart of this robbery, and bring Gavin Daly the answers he has been desperately chasing for many years.

E2 - "In episode two, 'Want You Dead', Grace and Branson investigate a case where nothing is truly as it first appears. When an unidentified victim is found dead in curious circumstances, the post mortem reveals more questions than it does answers.

As Grace works to identify the body, hoping this might provide some crucial clue as to the killer’s motive, he soon has another death on his hands when a second victim shows up in central Brighton, discovered in similarly bizarre circumstances."

E3 - "'You Are Dead' is episode three in which Grace and Branson are thrown into what is possibly their most disturbing and high-profile case yet, when an unsettling discovery of skeletal remains is unearthed by workmen digging up a path in central Brighton.

Meanwhile, across the city that same morning, a victim is snatched in broad daylight. With no witnesses and no sign of who took her, Grace starts to suspect whether the victim’s fiancé is lying to the police.

E4 - The final episode in the series is 'Love You Dead'. When a known Brighton burglar is found dead in his car, in gruesome circumstances, his wife claims that he had turned over a new leaf, but all the evidence points to the fact the victim may still have been up to his old tricks and was breaking and entering on the night he was killed.

As Grace and the team work to hone in on the circumstances leading to the victim’s death, Roy receives a call from a US police contact about a crime abroad which bears the hallmarks of a mafia hit. The police are keen to trace a woman they believe to be from Brighton, who could be in danger.

As Roy scours the city to help find her, it becomes apparent he isn’t the only one looking for this mysterious woman."

ITV will have adapted 12 of Peter James' 19 Roy Grace novels after the end of season four, which means we could have a couple of seasons yet to come at least — and potentially a spin-off series based on Sandy!

Has anyone read the any of the books? I’m wondering if they are also this dark.

Im also wondering if Cassian is a villain as I said upthread or just a dick!

Xmasbaby11 · 19/09/2024 07:59

I'm enjoying it. The two leads are pretty boring, bland characters and it's always slow for the first hour or so then things get tied up really quickly at the end! However, it's somehow enjoyable and a relaxing watch. Ep 2 and 3 much better than 1!

I agree it's good Grace and Clea have gone to see Sandy together. The story is totally ridiculous that she'd have disappeared from her entire life - but maybe it will make more sense when she explains it!

diddl · 19/09/2024 08:23

but maybe it will make more sense when she explains it!

Let's hope so!

From what I can remember she had an affair with Cassian(?) & her son may not be Grace's.

Did we see her with a letter of DNA results at one time?

Cassian saw her didn't he?

Did he also see her son?

Why would he want to kill her though?

Because she could ruin his reputation?

Yes, the books are as dark, some more than others. Cassian is a nasty piece of work, but pretty sure he had nothing to do with Sandy getting run over in the books.

E4 and last one in this series tonight

I found it creepy that the girl Logan trapped in a box in Episode 3 looked like the late Stephanie Slater who was kidnapped by Michael Sam's in 1992.
Deliberate or total coincidence?

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/09/2024 20:51

No one watching ?

Yes I am!

I sort of recall cases with snakes from the books. But not who or why done it.

Tooth I also recall from a few books. Maybe had a dog he loved?

Norman as the lady Killer!

I did laugh when Bella said about having kids in the future as I assumed she was around 45. The actress is actually only 41 but still, slightly past the baby days.

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/09/2024 21:46

I had mini blondes at almost 44 so never say never

Tho she was ivf and took 10yrs ttc

I'm watching this now (recorded), and usually I'd wait until the end before commenting, but, three-quarters the way though, I have to say, this is shite. Awful hackneyed plot-line, and terribly written. That scene where Norman 'took the job', my toes curled so hard I thought I'd never get them back! 😀A shame, because last week's, although hokum, was good fun.

I don’t remember that. I haven’t read the books so maybe that’s where you’ve seen it or a completely different detective. Some do seem to blend in!

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/09/2024 08:11

Guess that's it's now till new ones get made next year

Jean about a Jewellery thief is next Sunday and Monday

I'm glad he got closure on Sandy and Cleo can be secure in their relationship now.

The plot was rather unrealistic - especially if it was Mafia involvement - these take years to unravel. Although another series where I'm wondering about how much around us is secret police set ups that you never know about 😂

diddl · 23/09/2024 10:02

Well now that we know what happened to Sandy I'm not sure I'll watch any more.

I like John Simm but I don't find the characters particularly interesting & the relationship with Cleo doesn't work for me.

No spoilers, remember!

Samcro · 23/09/2024 10:21

I was confused by the burglar. so he broke it to the massively expensive house that had no security alarms. broke something, got poisoned and the owner never noticed!!

the random small pier in Brighton threw me too lol
