GRACE s4 - SUN ITV 9pm - TV PACE NO SPOILERS

Grace season 4 will begin on Sunday, September 1 at 8 pm on ITV1, with the remaining three episodes scheduled to follow on subsequent Sundays. The series will not be box-setted.

The fourth season is available in the US on BritBox, after premiering on July 2, 2024.

Based on the bestselling novels by Peter James, the crime show follows the exploits of DS Roy Grace, who has been haunted for over a decade by the disappearance of his wife Sandy.

In recent years he's found happiness with forensic pathologist Cleo Morey (Zoe Tapper), but will that happiness last?

That's one of the many questions we hope will be answered in the fourth series of this detective drama, which is filmed in Brighton and the surrounding areas.

With Grace's girlfriend Cleo Morey discovering she's pregnant and his estranged wife Sandy seemingly trying to prove that he's also the father of her child, it's fair to say the detective could have his hands full in the fourth series!

E1 The first film in the new series is called 'Dead Man’s Time'. A vicious robbery at a secluded Brighton home, draws Grace and Branson into a puzzling enquiry when thousands of pounds worth of beautiful antiques are stolen from the house.

As Grace digs deeper into this mysterious crime, he unearths a web of ancient grudges - a web which leads him down a dark, murderous trail through the world of Brighton antiques, in a race against the clock, to untangle who is at the heart of this robbery, and bring Gavin Daly the answers he has been desperately chasing for many years.

E2 - "In episode two, 'Want You Dead', Grace and Branson investigate a case where nothing is truly as it first appears. When an unidentified victim is found dead in curious circumstances, the post mortem reveals more questions than it does answers.

As Grace works to identify the body, hoping this might provide some crucial clue as to the killer’s motive, he soon has another death on his hands when a second victim shows up in central Brighton, discovered in similarly bizarre circumstances."

E3 - "'You Are Dead' is episode three in which Grace and Branson are thrown into what is possibly their most disturbing and high-profile case yet, when an unsettling discovery of skeletal remains is unearthed by workmen digging up a path in central Brighton.

Meanwhile, across the city that same morning, a victim is snatched in broad daylight. With no witnesses and no sign of who took her, Grace starts to suspect whether the victim’s fiancé is lying to the police.

E4 - The final episode in the series is 'Love You Dead'. When a known Brighton burglar is found dead in his car, in gruesome circumstances, his wife claims that he had turned over a new leaf, but all the evidence points to the fact the victim may still have been up to his old tricks and was breaking and entering on the night he was killed.

As Grace and the team work to hone in on the circumstances leading to the victim’s death, Roy receives a call from a US police contact about a crime abroad which bears the hallmarks of a mafia hit. The police are keen to trace a woman they believe to be from Brighton, who could be in danger.

As Roy scours the city to help find her, it becomes apparent he isn’t the only one looking for this mysterious woman."

ITV will have adapted 12 of Peter James' 19 Roy Grace novels after the end of season four, which means we could have a couple of seasons yet to come at least — and potentially a spin-off series based on Sandy!

Found the first episode really boring and turned off halfway through!

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/09/2024 20:53

It was boring and long and I didn't usually find that with Grace

Tho I also found the macdonald and Hobbs hard and boring at 2hrs

Think I'm better off with one like whitstable Pearl

I couldn't remember if I'd watched this as it's my kind of thing so I rewatched the start of the very first episode.
Turns out we had started watching it but gave up - I can't for the life of me remember why!

MichaelandKirk · 05/09/2024 21:13

Third episode is good. Don’t watch late at night or on your own

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/09/2024 15:04

E2 tonight

Hope it isn't as long winded as last weeks which I got bored

I've watched them all now- 2,3, and 4 are much better- v dramatic!!

In fact, I saw bits of them being filmed (one was by the Grand Hotel in Brighton) and wondered if it was Grace. I was stuck in a huge traffic jam along the seafront and they shot the same scene about 15 times 😂

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/09/2024 20:13

Seems good so far

I do love it when subtitles say seagulls squark etx 😂

I was worried for Bella! And Norman is ignoring calls from the doctor!

So bye bye sandy? Hello 9 year old Otto. No need to ever know sandy once slept with Christian now. Though he May query paternity of kid appears?

Case was one I didn't recall from the books much. Something with Brighton pavilion yes but not tunnels.

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/09/2024 22:17

Another recap as few things in reel mockery not quite right

Enjoyed that too. Pacy, and lots of fun.

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/09/2024 13:46

I wondered is she was hit skein as seemed very planned the motorbike whole stole her bag

I don't really R.E.M. Alvin and why he is stalking Grace

E3 is the coffin one. Best of all IMHO. Apparently there is a S5. The lead who plays Grace is growing on me tbh. I like the previous series where he was going on blind dates and meeting all sorts (just like in real life!)

Like Norman and Belle and their relationship. Not sure about Cleo. There is something about her that I find quite calculating. In this day and age to get pregnant seems a bit too convienent. Maybe its just me

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/09/2024 14:33

I love John simms

The second ep is so different from the first , glad I didn't give up , was much better .

The man who Sandy thought may have been the father of her child wasn't , but I don't remember him being in Grace before ??

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/09/2024 17:16

Agree. E1 bored me and seemed no real point

Where as e2 gripped me

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 11/09/2024 19:12

That was such a good episode omg Sandy. Looked deliberate?

dollybird · 13/09/2024 13:08

I've read all the books apart from the latest one, and didn't remember that story from ep 2. Just looked it up, and it's completely different! Ep 4 sou ds different too. And they've missed a book out. Wonder how Bella and Norman will play out. I haven't enjoyed the last few books, think Peter James is dragging out the character too much. Enjoy the TV version, but lots of things are different. No way would I have pictured Craig Parkinson playing Norman!

burnoutbabe · 13/09/2024 13:19

I pictured Norman fatter and older.

But Craig is the right type to play him . Slightly sleezy and a bit sad.

duc748 · 13/09/2024 14:12

I think that's great casting!

flamethrowerofdoom · 13/09/2024 19:22

Does anyone else find Norman strangely attractive in the TV series?

He's not as obnoxious as he is in the books

mum2jakie · 14/09/2024 18:37

After the turgid first episode, the second episode was really gripping! Glad I persevered with the series now!

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/09/2024 12:56
