I admit I love PD James books. I accept that by making a series set in 1980s that some changes are necessary but is anyone else finding Bertie Carvel hard to believe as the Detective Poet? I am old enough to remember Roy Marsden and he was nothing like the Dalglish of the books. I did like the Martin Shaw adaptations too. I think it doesn't help that those have been repeated fairly recently so the comparison is more easy to see.

He certainly looked nothing like the Dalgleish I imagined, but the character did grow on me as I watched. Wonder if there will be another series?

I though both Marsden and Shaw weren't that convincing, compared to books.

And by the time of this more recent version could not longer remember, so just went with what was really a "re-interpretation". But intrigued by tv version of 70s.
