Yes overall it wasn't as satifying as I remember the first series.
Seemed they tried to cram too much into just 2 episodes.
And they do seem to have cut out any police procedural bits, just shows the two of them swooping down from London is a snazzy car, getting suspects to talk and then leaving! I presume they did inform the local police and left them to arrest and charge the Doctor.
Haven't read the originals but is it meant to be that the female sargeant has some sort of crush on Dalgleish or just she just repsect him for his professionalism. That first scence of the poetry reading was a bit weird.
And probably yes, even as plain clothers I wondered if she could wear a trouser suit. But maybe that was one of the perks of being promoted out of uniform.
In any other police series from that time their would have been both sexist and racist comments about her if not too her face but behind her back. But can see how a very posh Inspector (or is he a Commander) would get deference.
Also did fast tracking exist in 70s?
Anyhow, I did enjoy straight forward story telling. And the scenery.
But this and other series makes me think just how many big rambling houses are ther in the UK?!
