I’m guessing Rochenda will do fairly well in the restaurant kitchen. Can’t imagine Chloe coping with that scenario at all, so probs just as well she’s left us.

Blueberrycreampie · 20/08/2024 21:01

See you Thursday!

Polkadottydot · 20/08/2024 21:31

Are madeleines that hard really ? If you can bake ?

I’ve never made them but looking at the recipe it’s basic sponge with a bit of honey in.

They're very easy.

GrandTheftWalrus · 20/08/2024 22:31

Just watched tonight's. Right person went!

And on a me-rail I'm so glad I can record and pause etc again!

ReadyTeddy1000 · 21/08/2024 01:17

Ah Chloe got a hard time on here 😕
She looked gutted to have screwed up, I felt awful for her. She was also one of my favourites on LI - she didn't take any shit but equally wasn't an arsehole to anyone. She's really clever and some of her persona seems to be slightly exaggerated so she comes across as more ditzy than she is, maybe.
She's got ADHD which explains a lot of the panic with getting things ready then being floored when it didn't work.

I personally would like to see a Celebrity MC where they're all given the opportunity to learn as opposed to being expected to know certain things otherwise they're out first. I like that some of them have no idea how to cook but really want to try and do well.

I agree although I often have to remind myself that it's a show for entertainment first and cookery second. It's the same with 'original Masterchef' - when they first started with the John/Greg format it was full of 'I'm experimenting with pasta bake but adding rhubarb, avocado and a tube of Pringles' - now they are sous-viding all over the place in the first round.

Right decision last night, enjoyed following all your comments even though I was a bit late to the party.

I still believe that Gregg's raw chicken wasn't an accident...

I've always liked the idea of a Milanese risotto. I wonder if you can do a vegetarian version?

You can, but apparently you'd have to call it saffron risotto as the original has beef marrow in it.

So pleased the right person went last night. She really was quite annoying.

Rochenda was very good and really confident with it. Hope she goes far, but I may have doomed that as Edith was in my finals week.

I really liked Daniella and she did seem to know how to cook.

Risotto Milanese recipe

Risotto Milanese (Risotto alla Milanese) This recipe belongs to the culinary tradition of the city of Milan. It's a very old recipe, probably more than 400 years old and the story goes that while an artist was preparing the dye to colour the window gla...

I don't understand all the drama around the pairs task. Surely the one with the instructions just has to READ IT OUT LOUD.
and check if either of them do or don't know the meaning of any technical words?

Choccyp1g · 21/08/2024 11:42

And why do they always say "the fat must be rendered and crispy", and then say "the meat is perfect" while showing a raw flabby chewy chop or steak.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 21/08/2024 11:43

I thought the fat on those lamb cutlets last night didn't look good at all.

Don't be so sensible Choccyp1g!

I don't like the pairs task either. If they want it, I'd re-jig it.

They'd both have the recipe but can't see or talk to each other. They then get 4 opportunities (?) for a 30 second visit for tasting/seeing where they're up to/looking at plating.

That way it's more equal than production trying to prod both the reader and the listener into nervous breakdowns!

Either that, or give them alternate lines of the recipe so they both have to talk and listen.

RomainingToBeSeen · 21/08/2024 12:52

The Pairs Task always reminds me of some grim corporate teambuild event (usually with Lego) designed to highlight communication and leadership but actually just making people cross.

And given that, this series, the person who has the recipe can literally see the other person, it should be easy.

It was more entertaining during covs restrictions, when they couldn't see each other during the pairs task.

EsmaCannonball · 21/08/2024 20:34

I find any round where they aren't cooking their own recipes pretty boring. The Pairs one is baffingly pointless.

They make them in the patisserie dd works in. They make the batter the day before. It apparently should rest.

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 22/08/2024 12:20

OK, who bribed Eshan to poison Gregg? It would be like the crappest Midsomer Murders ever. Murdered with raw chicken on national TV. Countless suspects.

Blueberrycreampie · 22/08/2024 20:02

Evening everyone!

TheDogsMother · 22/08/2024 20:03

Evening Chuffs. I'm not really a fan of this Pairs round.

RomainingToBeSeen · 22/08/2024 20:03

Evening all!

Halsall · 22/08/2024 20:03

Evening. I agree, Dogs, it’s woeful.

Blueberrycreampie · 22/08/2024 20:04

I know it's fairly tedious!
